I'm registered now so you guys know I am not a spammer-"my bad". I meant it when I said I am new to this site; I thought I HAD registered but only tonight was I directed to the user control panel to put in specifics. For those of you who gave me support I appreciate it. For those of you who were suspicious, I understand the issue now. I have not gotten my cpap machine yet. I am using the resmed auto vantage which is lent by a local sleep clinic (1 of 3 in the area). I had the sleep study in July at another clinic and when I went for the titration study I was told by 2 techs in the middle of the night, (when my pressure was increased to 7 and I felt like I was suffocating and) that because I only had hypopneas that I did not need to be there. I stayed hooked up to all the wiring but the titration was not continued (it is a very long story and yes I know techs are not supposed to give out information. Anyway, I ended up going to the other clinic which was not able to do a full study as my insurance had just paid for one. So by giving me the machine for 2 weeks they can determine the needed settings. I am using the resmed auto vantage.

I was asking for feedback because this whole thing is new to me and quite overwhelming. Had I known about this whole spam issue and how touchy of an issue it is, I probably would have posted differently. So do I need to say anything else to prove I am not a spammer?? I even put my occupation in my profile.

Thank-you very much Gary. I called the penfield location and gave the guy there my insurance info so he could look into my coverage and then we will proceed when I obtain my rx.

Yay! I was counting on you, Caffeine.

All of this IS tremendously overwhelming, especially at first, but if you invest some time, you'll be amazed at how much you'll learn (to say nothing of how much there IS to learn). We share information and experiences here, but as it says at the bottom of each screen:
The information provided on this site is not intended nor recommended as a substitute for professional medical advice.
The best thing you can do for yourself is read, read, read!! In addition to what's currently circulating, the posts are saved, and the search and advanced search vehicles work well. The best place to start reading is with the yellow "Our Wisdom" lightbulb, above. Once you select it, go to the bottom of the screen that opens and select "expand all" to see the wide range of articles that are there.

Once again, welcome!

Just to help here - I went into a CPAP Xpress yesterday. I have bought my equipment from them for a little over 2 years and met the guy who started it. Well now it is like a used car showroom with everyone trying to make you buy the stuff that they get extra points for. I heard the folks in back bragging that they had sold a hose on the previous sale, then the woman came out and told me that I not only need a mask, I really should get a new hose too, since they were only really good for 6 months. Spare me! She also told me that she needed a prescription from my doctor to sell me the mask (Not so, they want to get your doctor's prescription on file so they can try to sell you an overpriced cpap machine). I paid $50 more for the nasal mask when compared with the online prices. Next time I will do my homework and AVOID this store.

Seen It All, prescriptions are now required for a mask as well as the machine.

The person who asked the question, SEVEN YEARS AGO, probably has by now found a supplier or died by now. Or maybe they learned how to use Google. Jim
