No Flow Limitations in CPAP Mode?

Post by ca_hosehead » Sun Nov 23, 2008 3:27 am

I switched my Respironics M Series APAP over to straight CPAP mode. I notice in the reports I no longer see Flow Limitations. Does anyone know why this is?

Can I turn them back on somehow? I was thinking I could switch it back to APAP mode with top and bottom pressures set to the same number but I don't know if that will work.

Switch your machine to APAP with min.=max. and you'll get fixed pressure therapy, with APAP detail reporting.

The reason (my interpretation) is that since a flow limitation is a "partial hypopnea", it's also a clue to the system's algorithm that something bigger may be coming.....so....."get ready to bump up the pressure". (and CPAPs don't change pressure)

You also won't see any Non Responsive events logged in CPAP mode.
