Help!!! I'm becoming a CPAP evangelist!

Post by congahands » Thu Nov 20, 2008 1:55 pm

The secretary at the school that we help a young neighbor go to was having a bad time adjusting to her CPAP. She was having trouble with mouth leaks and using her mask when her nose was congested. I told her about taping her mouth and using a couple of drops of Vicks Vapo Steam.

I also told her about hose snuggies, and pad-a-cheek's. She was a different person after only 2 or 3 days.

She also didn't know about the fact that she could get a new mask every three months.

Then, at a school event, I was asking her about how things were going and another person started asking me about how to deal with some other CPAP problems.

Apparently, the information that I learned here in the time between my PSG and Titration is very uncommon. I saw my sleep doctor yesterday, he'd never seen pad-a-cheeks, or a hose snuggie. He'd never seen teflon tape on a mask elbow. I am amazed at how little information is commonly known. You guys are amazing.

I think I am catching the CPAP fever.

GOOD for you!

Pay it back.

I have a friend that just had a sleep study.
He is joining the Brothers/Sisters of the Yahoo Hoserhood.

I have been helping him get his equipment.
So far, his doctor and his DME are totally amazed at
his ability to tell them what he wants and how he wants it. hehehehehe

I love paying back.

Yes, you guys are amazing.

Maybe you should change your username to CPOPE and PhotoShop a CPAP mask onto your avatar?

Hey I agree with the emblem idea -- where is kteague?

Someone should design the emblem and have her make us shirts -- then when we are out and about we can recognize each other!!! I would love it!!!!

Hubby is in a 12 step program and they have their slogans on bumper stickers and shirts and you would be amazed at the people you meet that ask if you are a friend of Bill W or Dr. Bob.

"I'm a Friend of Rested Gal".

At least until she denies that.

LOL,

my 2 cents.....
The emblem should have this phrase:

Comme
Peep
At
Perseverance
Through
All the
Love and
K nowledge

= cpaptalk

Where do I get the things you mention? I am a newbie and I look like my husband beat me up every morning from my mask. I have had to adjust my schedule and only make afternoon appointments because I look so beat up. I have tried wrapping things with tissues, but I am a side sleeper and also wind up on my face. Any help would be appreciated.
