Quattro Cflex
Quattro Cflex
My husband has been using the UMFF w/Cflex=1, and never mentioned the breathing pattern, just that it felt better when I lowered it from 2 to 1, but we can't seem to control the leaks so now we have a Quattro. It is a Small that was donated to us, and he is using a Medium in the UM?? He used it today for a nap to try out, and after a few adjustments it seemed OK except that he was very emphatic that he had to breathe too fast, it was "not in tune" with his regular breathing. Is this because of the difference in masks and the different exhaust ports or something. Is this a common occurrance? I'm going to turn off the Cflex completely tonight but wanted your opinions first that I'm on the right track or anything else I should be aware of. BTW, he is just starting to take part in his own treatment, asking questions, actually checking out the mask parts and wanting to know what I'm reading on this forum, etc., so I was happy that he was able to verbalize the problem he noticed with his breathing pattern on the Q.

Re: Quattro Cflex
C-flex is a comfort setting. It shouldn't hurt anything for you to turn it off altogether. If he finds that he has trouble exhaling, turn it back on to 1 and see which he likes best. Every mask feels different to me. Some I need c-flex on 3, some I don't need it at all.
It's good to hear that he is becoming comfortable enough to ask questions and take part in his treatment! I hope he realizes how lucky he is to have you!

Re: Quattro Cflex
I am new to cpap therapy myself and am also using the M sieries with C-Flex at 1 and the Quattro. I found that I was listening to the machine too much. When you reach the end of exhalation the machine will begin building pressure again and I would hear that and inhale again. Had the machine on a night stand right beside my head so it was very noticeable. Had to
come to understand that I was breathing in time with the machine instead of at my normal rate and had to tell myself to slow down. After a while it became easier to put on my mask and just breath normally. Just felt so good to get a full breath
of air I was over doing it. Also I placed the machine on the bottom of the night stand so I couldn't hear it as well and as a bonus it doesn't light up the bedroom so much from there. Don't know if this will help or if a change in masks is causing the problem. One thing for sure you came to the right place to ask.

Re: Quattro Cflex
Your description helps me understand how it feels to Mike, since I can't go by own experience, so it's really hard to know what to change or adjust.
