what do this morning's LCD readings mean?

Post by stacia123 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 3:09 pm

I reset the LCD readings on my Remstar Pro M last night so they were zeroed out. I slept only about 2 hours before I had to get up for a little while. Before I went back to bed, I checked the readings, which said:

Therapy Hours 1.0
Blower hours 2.6
Leak Rate 28.8
AHI 3.0

I went back to sleep, slept 6.5 hours, and the readings were almost the same except the blower hours:

Therapy Hours 1.0
Blower hours 7.6
Leak Rate 28.8
AHI 3.0

So I'm wondering if the LCD readings are accurate? I know I slept 6.5 hours yet the hours only increased by 5, and the Therapy Hours didn't increase at all. My AHI and Leak Rate were bad after the 2 hours, but that didn't surprise me because I had a coughing fit and took my mask half off while still asleep. I slept without incident the remaining 6.5 hours though, so was surprised the AHI and Leak Rate were exactly the same.

I should also mention I'm on a night schedule, where I go to bed about 3 AM and get up around noon. Today I slept past noon because of the lost sleep earlier. Would that have affected it?

Probably. The time for collecting a day's worth of data is Noon of the first day to Noon of the next day.

I thought the "M" was for Mystery......

(or Missing.....as in where the data goes on the nights it drops the data)

I slept only an hour past noon. Should the machine tell me everything from before noon, or will it not update until tomorrow? I noticed that when I first got the machine it considered my first day "empty", recording no hours even though I used it all night. This is going to be a pain in the hinder if it gets all "M"ysterious because of my sleep schedule.

You will probably find out tomorrow......

I would strongly suggest that you get the Encore software to monitor your therapy. That way it'll give you the complete picture.
I can sympathize with your situation because I worked shift work (mainframe computer operations) many years ago (and before CPAP machines were even invented)......and am glad I don't have to do it now. Anyway, I know what it's like to have to get your sleep whenever you can.

On a side note.......don't you just hate it when people call you during the daytime (when you're sleeping) and say "Oh, I'm sorry....did I wake you up?". I always wanted to call those same people back at about 3:00 AM and ask the same thing.

I'm going to once I'm sure this machine is mine. My DME still hasn't sent the paperwork to the insurance company and, because my insurance company is run by poo-flinging monkeys, I half expect to find that they won't pay for the machine and I'll have to return it.
