Actually, I think my version of Paint dates back to Win95 or so. I never worried about it because I don't use Paint. I use Photofinish or Photoshop Elements.

I realize I sound like a computer idiot, but my first home computer was an Osborne 1, which I got in 1982. And I've even done programming with punch cards.

encore pro uses a SQL database to save all the data, however encore viewer doesn't - I don't know but I think there is NO database saved - so whatever is on the card is all you get I believe - so each card will be a separate report and no merging - again this would be my guess only - I am using an old version of encore pro myself

if you use the machine for naps or there is over an hour gap between sessions, you won't get 7 days on the card - just 7 sessions - at most 3 sessions a day

Regrettably, Encore Pro no longer appears to be available to mere patients like myself. Guess that's what I get for having a late diagnosis!

So far I haven't been using it for naps, 'cause I haven't been taking naps. Just the mid-sleep run for the necessary, and that only takes a few minutes. It's been showing those two as single sessions, albeit with a break.

You can get a network hub for just as cheap (see link below). Just stick that in between the computer and your network box... then connect or disconnect the laptop and the computer as needed. In FACT, if you connect both computers to the hub, and the hub to your DSL or cable connection, you can do this:

- Keep one of the them with the current software setup to the internet (probably you get a dynamic IP address?)
- Take the other one, change the network settings so that it's on the same subnet as the computer connected to the internet

And then you should be able to see one computer from the other one, even if the 2nd one isn't able to get online.
If they are setup as being in the same "workgroup" and they both have "computer names", you can just access one computer from the other by going to explorer and typing in \\name_of_other_computer\username ... this will allow you to copy files from one machine to the other.

If you need help with this setup, PM me and I'll walk you through the settings. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Actually you can get both computers on the internet with a router as well, as Jules mentioned. (even if your service provider only allows 1 internet connection - it's the router that's directly connected to the internet so your server provider won't even see that there are more computers connected.) It's slightly more difficult to set up but is also not that bad.

I just today downloaded "cutepdf" and it does indeep get added to your printer list, which is then used for EV. Unless I have totally missed the point of your thread.....sorry, if so.

Thanks for the input on the hubs... guess I'm going shopping tomorrow, and will see what I can come up with. Of course, I might also come home with a color printer to replace my venerable 2000C which gasped out the menus and name tags for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary party, and then expired. (Sitting in the heat and humidity after Hurricane Katrina probably did not help the matter.)

My LJ 2300 is doing just fine, but it's B&W... which is what I bought it for, printing manuscripts. But the color charts from Encore Viewer won't look very good in grey.

Having the machines linked again could be handy. But then I have to figure out how to remove McAfee and replace it with NOD32.

Sigh. Before you can do anything, you have to do something else first.

If your computer won't let you save any files in paint but bitmaps, and if your Encore won't let you choose a different printer, you've got a major non-hardware related problem.

So, I DL this program to Wizard VII. Now how do I get it over to Athena IV? Remember: no working USB ports on Wizard. No internet connection on Athena

CD burner on Wizard and on Athena. I never use Paint, so I never cared if it only saved to bit maps. I used Photofonish, and also Photoshop Elements. And yes, there are problems with Wizard. He's six years old, for one thing. Which is antique in computer years. I'm uncertain, but the Encore card reader requires a powered port, it looks like. Wizard's USBs may be 1.xx and unpowered. Which may be the problem. I had a long discussion with Wizard's builder today, and it may be that in a relatively short time, Wizard will be moving to his next incarnation. I just have to figure out the cheapest and safest way of getting me and him to Milwaukee.

Spoke with the RT today, and she's going to get a prescription from the doctor to put a slightly lower range on my EPAP, because I wake up struggling to breathe out against the current EPAP of 10. Effectively, if I understand this correctly, they've got me on straight CPAP of 10.0, with the ability to go to an IPAP of 14 if needed -- and I told them I had trouble with that from the outset. My mouth is not dry, but the front of my teeth and the inside of my lips is, which tells me that although I am keeping my jaw shut, I'm breathing out between my teeth and lips. Suspect that is contributing to the unacceptably high leak rate that I'm showing.
