Nicolet One PSG Software???
I had a PSG at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. They say they can NOT provide a full scored data summary report with or w/o condensed graphs, that they don't have the capabilities. Can you buy THAT one??
They say they used Nicolet One software. Has anyone heard of this? I did a QUICK google search and see NO MENTION of it for PSGs. It appears to be a Canadian firm providing this software.
http://www.summittechnologies.ca/produc ... letone.php
Mind you, this was just a quick search.
It also is NOT possible to speak w/their RPSGTs, other than, of course, during your sleep study setup w/wires, leads, etc. DUE TO ACCREDIDATION RULES. Anyone buying THAT one?
Can any of our contributing RPSGTs offer any insight about the above??
Not being one to let sleeping dogs lay, I've seen the Patient Advocate at Mayo (and gotten nowhere tho she tried). The most info she could get is what I've reported above.
I'm working now on my letter to the HIPAA Secretary Department of Health & Human Services to complain about not being provided w/my full scored data summary report w/condensed graphs. Even for Mayo I'm not ready to give up obtaining this report until I'm convinced that it CAN'T be produced.

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
you can always call your insurance and complain they are not giving you test results.
1. In order to get paid by Insurance, they need to provide:
-Letter of medical necessity from your doctor
-copy of the PSG results (so they ARE available somewhere)
2. Let them know you are instructing Insurance NOT to pay for the study until the results and findings are rendered.
oh you are on that socialized medical plan run by our government medicare? you are screwed

Slinky,
This is the MAYO. Of course they can give you a copy of your PSG. They have the condensed graphs. They have to for Medicare. There's a form somewhere in their office that you had to fill out in order for you to send it to your Primary Care Physician. They are required to do this. You can sign the same form except with you as the recipient in person at their office or by mail. They are required to give you a copy by law (HIPAA) if you ask for it. It sounds like you either spoke with a power monger who's giving you guff or a trainee. Safe travels.

Hello Slinky,
Boy, we are so glad to have you back. Missed ya.
Well, now they've done it. Where do you want me to go and who do you want me to give a "piece of my mind" to?
They don't know who they're messing with.

Hey, Slink! Hello there at the Mayonnaise Clinic!
Here's the manufacturer link to that diagnostic sleep software:
http://www.viasyshealthcare.com/prod_se ... prodID=177
There seems to be an optional module called Nic-Vue that may summarize:
http://www.viasyshealthcare.com/prod_se ... prodID=153
Kinda doubt they use Nic-Vue if there aren't other Nicolet diagnostic platforms in use requiring data integration & summary, though. I sure would think the standalone Nicolet PSG software must have some type of summary output.

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
I am just so .... almost shocked about this as Mayo has ALWAYS been so progressive, so open and free w/providing you w/complete medical records not just doctors' dictated results. I had assumed that Mayo would be so much more progressive than our local sleep labs, that their sleep lab would be as open and freely providing information as the rest of the Clinic. Mind you, I've had some 50 years of coming to Mayo w/family as well as for my husband and myself.
I FAX'd them my request. I spoke to the sleep doctor I had been assigned to. The patient advocate talked to the head of the sleep techs, the head of the sleep department wasn't available but I was given the name. When I get back home I'll write a letter to the department head and to the Department of Health and Human Services to file a formal complaint.
I just find this so hard to believe of Mayo!!!! This is NOT their SOP. At least not in any other department. Its hard to believe the Mayo Clinic sleep department is so enmeshed in "the dark ages"!!! So backwards in their policy. Gads! Even at home at our local sleep labs we have no problem getting the full scored data summary report w/condensed graphs ....
SWS, many thanks for that link. I just didn't have time to do more than a cursory search before a gang of us went out to dinner after the lecture. Ah well, we leave for home tomorrow. Probably drive as far as Rockford, IL. BirdShell has been a blessing!! What a great travel companion and EASY company! She is a real treasure.

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
Good luck, Slinky! Tell Karen we said hello and good luck as well.
Wonder if Mayo's reluctance about releasing PSG summary info has to do with the rumor that patients are actually publishing those things somewhere on Internet. Nah... that's probably just a rumor anyway.

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
Find out where in the Mayo Medical Records and payments are made, they should have your medical file there, I would take it up with the person at the cashier.
IF it is like any other medical clinic of any size, they have to check out your medical file and return it to records daily when they are done seeing you. They cannot keep those files on someone's desk over night or checked for days, its a big no-no and in violation of federal HIPPA regulations they are supposed to record the whereabouts of your file and know at any time who has your file, the results of any test are in that file. It may also take them 7-10 days to process the PSG where the results can be rendered to you or sent to your doctor.
Your test results must first be delivered to you by a licensed doctor, if your regular doctor referred you to the Mayo, then they may be wanting to release that data only to the referring doctor vs delivering it to you. You could call your referring doctors office and ask them if that is not the case, if it is okay for the Mayo doctors to release that info to you.

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
Nah, SnoreDog. That's not the way Mayo works. A copy is provided the patient of all ..... more later. They're calling me for an appointment. Grrrrr.
Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
The tech gathers the info; the sleep doc discusses the info with the patient. An outfit like Mayo is careful not to blur those lines, especially with anything complicated. No tech wants to be in the awkward position of being on record as contradicting a doc's, or all the docs', interpretation of the meaning of the data.
It could be that you are asking for the paperwork too early, if the sleep doc hasn't done his full thing yet, or if he/she is asking for input, or sign-offs, from other experts on something. You may get more mileage out of making sure everything eventually gets to your primary-care doc and then you can get a copy of it all that way.
That being said, I volunteer to fly anywhere and beat up anyone you say.
I wonder what Mayo and the authorities would do if they got a few thousand letters saying that they had all better treat "Slinky" right from now on? Not suggesting that, of course.
Hurry back!

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
God bless you all. Will respond more and better tomorrow. TIRED. BirdShell and I had an interesting trip home. I hit a fresh deer carcass on I-94 so we ended up spending the night in a motel in Paw Paw, Michigan and my car is sitting at a GM dealership waiting for repairs. There didn't seem to be any body damage but at the very least the transmission cooler was totally destroyed and hanging by its hoses. We didn't get any steam so I'm not sure about the radiator but will worry about its integrity even if they find no damage. And, of course, I'm holding my breath on the transmission itself and that whole front axle (front wheel drive) and joints. Life is NEVER boring!!!

Re: Nicolet One PSG Software???
Gumby, (((hugs))) thank you for the support!!!!
Thanks, SnoreDog. I've often wondered, is it the full scored data summary report that has to be provided to the DME supplier and insurance or just the doctor's dictated results? Yeah, I'm on Medicare w/a good secondary. I hadn't thought about contacting them. What the hay, a letter to them will allow me to get even more of this frustration off my chest. Wait until you see my "script" from Mayo for the titration!!
Thanks, DreamDiver. Yep, I see things the same way you do. Mayo is THE EPITOME of EFFICIENCY. ALL of their results and records are made available on 'puter as soon as they are ready. Any doctor you've consulted with can draw up your records on 'puter right in his consultation room as soon as they are ready - which is QUICK at Mayo, real quick! And when you have your last consultation you are generally given a full printout of all test results and consultation dictations. Any not ready at that time are sent via snail mail to you. All you have to do is request them verbally, no need to sign an ROI for youself, just for your referring doctor or any other doctor you designate to receive them. It is a wonderous, marvelous place - EXCEPT, at least so far, their sleep center. I would NOT recommend their sleep center to anyone if that person wants access to their sleep records.
PackItIn, (((hugs))), the support is greatly appreciated! I'm not sure Mayo's sleep center can handle a piece of both your mind and mine!!!
SWS, thank you for the links! It appears that NicoletOne is more EEG data and requires UltraSom or other PSG software for a full PSG study and data. I gotta tell ya, I'm not going to be bashful about relating my Mayo sleep center bi-level titration experience all over the various sleep apnea forums!!!
Ahhh, jnk! How sweet of you! Between the two of us we just might be able to utterly destroy their sleep center and force them to acquire the newest, latest and greatest equipment for PSGs, you think? Man! I can't imagine that sleep center DOESN'T have the latest and greatest. It just boggles my mind. This just does NOT fit all my prior experiences at Mayo Clinic! It is just totally FOREIGN to all previous experiences!!!
I spent half the night and all of today so far TRYING to write a tactful, diplomatic request and description of my experience at Mayo's sleep center to the department's administrator but all I do is get more infuriated and frustrated the more I work on it! I want to send them a letter and written request before I file my HIPAA complaint w/the Dept. of Health and Human Serices. (The bi-level titration was conducted 23 October so there's been plenty of time for those who think Mayo needed more time - I made my request, got the refusal and worked my way thru to the Patient Advocate on the 30th of October).
