what does one have to do to use this portion of this site successfully? IF i put user name in, it tells me it's already registered and won't let me post a question to a specific user. There does not seem to be a help section or an e-maila ddress to write to to get help in using this site, why is it so darn dificult to use this site, it is abgsolutely ridiculous.

Well, you don't HAVE to be registered to use this forum......but it can be of great help in many ways.....like to use the "PM" (Private Message) feature and to enter the equipment you're using.

You didn't say whether you had ever signed up here before, but if you tried to pick a user name that WAS already taken, then you would have gotten that message. You'd need to keep trying to pick one that hasn't been used.

Howdy,

If you would like a username, click "Register Username" under "Chatting Live" near the top right.

You'll need a valid email address and to pick a name that hasn't already been taken. CPAPtalk.com is free and you do not need a username to ask a question. Here is the FAQ:

Johnny, I,m registered as imsleepynomore but more than 90% of the time I can log in -site indicates I'm logged in but when I click return to forum I'm not logged in and if I try to post a reply I need to do as a quest. What am I doing wrong? I would love to participate as a known person.

Greetings,

We use third party software to run CPAPtalk.com. This is a mixed blessing as the login stuff is often maddening. You login, you click around, you go to post and you're logged out. Its even worse when I'm switching between johnnygoodman and forumadmin. Before our launch of the revised software, we tested and tested to try to get it to behave. We thought we had it, but it seems to have gone right back. Many member of our forum have a series of steps they take which work each time for them. Results may vary and I'm sorry for the issues you're having. The login software our team coded, the one on CPAP.com, works all the time.

Given that rant and apology, clicking the remember me button under the login tends to "hold" the login a good deal of the time:

Note I added or removed characters from my password, so if your reading this and considering a brute force attack based on characters, you are in for a long night.

First off, clear your cookies, Then log-in as per Johnny's sample. I also go from one end of the internet mutipul times daily, so I run a program called Window Washer, in it it delete all the trash that builds up while surfing. It also has a feature called "Cookie Saver". After dumping your cookies, log-in as Johnny says, then add the site cookies to "Cookie Saver", that works well for me!!! Jim

It also makes your browser run more stable.
