Nasal strips???
Between the time I figured out that I had snoring, and probably a significant apnea problem, and the time that I got my CPAP gear, I used Clear Passage nasal strips(they are kind of like Breathe Rights but with better adhesive).
The strips do a pretty good job of keeping my sinuses open.
So my question is this....
Does anyone else wear nasal strips at night with their CPAP gear? Is there any reason not to?
Thanks!

Re: Nasal strips???
I don't use them because I don't need them and they could interfere with the seal or they could even damage a mask. They do not help at all with apnea and I am not sure how much they really help with congestion.
Re: Nasal strips???
If they help with the congestion, and they don't interfere with your mask, then why not? I use nasel pillows and those strips would fit fine with my pillows. Other masks that go over the bridge of your nose might not work so well. If your using them only for the snoring though, they are unnecessary with the cpap.
Re: Nasal strips???
I used to wear breathe right strips (the brown ones have MUCH better adhesive than the clear ones) before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. That's were a lot of my restriction is. It was much easier to breath with them. I haven't needed to use them with my CPAP.congahands wrote:Between the time I figured out that I had snoring, and probably a significant apnea problem, and the time that I got my CPAP gear, I used Clear Passage nasal strips(they are kind of like Breathe Rights but with better adhesive).

On the other hand, I have thought that they might help me to be able to use nasal pillows. Nasal pillows push on my nose in a manner that restricts my nasal passages more. I think that a breathe right strip might fix that. I'm going to try that one of these days.

Re: Nasal strips???
No more, you might look into Nasal Prongs instead of nasal pillows. Since they go inside your nose, they hold your nose open more, and help with congestion. There are a variety of styles out there. I just pimp out the Nasal Aire II.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
Re: Nasal strips???
Thanks for the idea. I want to go to a FFM though and I was looking at the hybrids like the Liberty and the Innomed Hybrid because they don't have as much surface area to leak. I'm spoiled to my Activa. I'm not claustrophobic or anything. I don't think there's a hybrid type mask that has nasal prongs. Please correct me if I'm wrong though.Babette wrote:No more, you might look into Nasal Prongs instead of nasal pillows. Re: Nasal strips???
Not yet. The Liberty and the Hybrid are both pillows styles. I was contemplating how one could cut up a Nasal Aire II cannula and fit it to a Liberty or Hybrid to make it a prongs style, though.

Re: Nasal strips???
Yeah, I've had some pretty crazy mask mods cross my mind. *evil laugh* I just don't have enough experience with the different masks to know if I could do it and I don't have the disposable income at the moment to experiment. How's an evil scientist supposed to get any work done without money?Babette wrote:Not yet. The Liberty and the Hybrid are both pillows styles. Re: Nasal strips???
Yes, I'm using large BreathRight stips every night with my nasal pillow mask...Opus 360. I think they help open my passages, however hope to wean myself from them....because I think the best price for them I can find is about 50 cents each.
