Comfort Lite connector problem

Post by Vonon » Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:12 pm

The swivel connector on my Comfort Lite yanks the nasal fittings every time I turn over (I route the hose up over the headboard). I think I could solve the problem by replacing the connector with one of those nice lightweight tubes like the one on the Swift. I haven't been able to find that tube as a replacement part and don't want to buy an expensive mask just to get one piece of it. Does anyone know where I might find one?

Thanks to all of you who have helped me achieve successful cpap therapy.

Is this the part you're asking about?

I also found this one, but it's a different brand and I have no idea if it might work.

Just cut that stiff elbow off! I have removed it from my mask(way more than a year ago) and it has made a huge difference! No need to purchase anything additional.

Here's what I use between my CL2 and hose - it's useful for several other masks, too. With a regular hose, it drags on the mask too much for me but this is a good fix. My heated Aussie hose is lighter and with that I don't need it.

the second link I posted is Rested Gal's modification for this mask - it uses that hose -

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8493

I adapted that further and cut off the hose down to the top of the adjustments - for me it worked out with a couple layers of tape and that I didn't need to adjust the mask, but I wouldn't suggest it - in other words if you cut this much you might have problems -

Jules,

Thanks for posting the photo. I had planned to use RG's modification but haven't gotten to it yet. Lately my CL2 has worked just fine as is (with the extra piece of hose when not using Aussie heated hose). It seems to take me awhile to feel comfortable with a mask!

I should add by way of info that I most certainly did not come up with the idea of that piece of hose - that neat idea came from RG!

I cut it off(with hubbys band saw) right where RG shows the red mark in this post; viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8493. It leaves enough of the hard plastic in the tube to attach to the hose. You can the small hose shown in the link, or just attach directly to your hose. I've done both. The activa hose makes everything much more flexible, but the regular hose works well for me too.

I would cut the hose off further up like what RG suggested.

Where I cut it off worked for me but I didn't need to adjust the vertical distance on the mask from the bottom . If I had needed to then the hose would have come off. I used first aid tape to fill in the gap too as otherwise there would have been leaks at the connection.

I just got a little carried away with the steak knife that night.
