Time to make adjustments again

Post by HelpMeBreath » Tue Oct 14, 2008 9:27 am

I am always looking to simplify things, and I am probably over simplifying this. Im sure DSM will set me straight, but I figured I would give it a shot to get an idea. I have been using my BiPap for over a year now. I suppose I feel a little better, its sure not the fountain of youth some people claim. I am still tired all the time, fall asleep at work, really the only thing that I have seen a difference in is my resting heart rate and my blood pressure (which is not a small thing!). Anyway, my settings were WAY off after my sleep study, DSM spent some time with me and got from an AHI of 50+ down to under 5. Well, its happening again. I think I was at 18/10 from the sleep study, now I am at 15/14.2 or so? Roughly, and I usually have an AHI of about 5 ish, almost all is HI, the AI is around .02 or so. I think that the numbers have been low because I am not really sleeping. Last night was the first night in a LONG time that I don't remember waking up every hour or so, I thought perhaps I got a good nights sleep finally.

Let me backtrack a second. I wake up because of mask leaks for the most part. I use a hybrid. I have a FFM but I cannot use it at all, it destroys my skin, makes me break out horribly. I was sick last week, used it for one night after a REALLY thorough cleansing, broke out so bad I didnt go to work on the second day. Anyway, mask leaks are an issue.

Back on point. I checked the readings this morning AHI of 19!.. AI was somewhere around .08. SO, I dont have access to my resscan stuff from work, but would if you were me, what do you think you would start adjusting to get this under control?

I think I know the answer, but maybe someone can give me an AH HA! moment anyway..

Hope everyone is doing well, love the new forum look (shows how long Ive been absent)

I think you know that you have to fix the leaks to get proper treatment. Is it time for a new mask? Do you clean it well? Maybe you need to try a different mask?

So, how is it going? Did you detect/fix leaks or get a new mask?
