this is a forum where ppl volunteer their time to help others who who are dealing with this thing called sleep apnea - this is not medical advice - if you want medical advice see your doctor and PAY them

there will always be some who want more, and will whine and whine hoping to get it

alienating those you can get input from is rather counter productive imho

Hey - I Thanked You .

I have waited a few days with "baited breath" for replies from certain people that seem to be very learned on reading sleep studies and I have seen them make many postings or replies and not reply to my request for a reading. So I am just wondering why? You ask specific people out of respect for their knowledge and verbosity and they don't even bother...
RUDE...

Hey Snoredog if I talk to you like you talk to other people maybe you will get it - That old ASSHOLE attitude of yours is showing...
well you little twerp, stick the hose up your ass, plug it into 240VAC and hit the ramp button.
someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

yep alienating those who can help works wonders

see what it got you now Mike?

get your treatment under control - you had leaks before you didn't fix - ppl say you have them now too ---- why did you quit treatment before? and quit the time before and before that?

until you get those fixed nothing else matters - once you can get therapy going, them maybe these emotional whine parties will get under better control too

Mike, just to set the record straight... You didn't get my attention because you verbally assaulted me. You got my attention simply because I happened to open your thread: I only open a slim minority of threads that roll across this message board.

I used to literally perform periodic searches for "-SWS" to see if anyone specifically had questions for me. But quite frankly, after a few years that slowed down as more and more message board posters got to be genuine gurus that could answer many of the questions better than me. Now ironically some of the biggest gurus that I have had the pleasure of knowing perfectly answered your questions. Get the leaks under control. Absolutely.

Variable breathing of 60% or greater is potentially problematic if you happen to rely on a wide-to-moderate pressure range from your APAP algorithm. You'll just spend some high percentage of time away from the "intended" parts of the algorithm. If I consistently had a VB of 60% or greater, I would probably run at a very narrow pressure range to see if that made me sleep or feel any better.

Lastly, when you want to get someone's attention, don't verbally insult them in a thread they may never see. A polite PM is a much more respectful way of asking people for favors.

I did not look at your reports but ----------- AHI doesn't mean anything until the leaks are fixed - you can mouth breath all night - bad leaks and get an AHI of 0.0 yet the night was BAD and not good treatment

Mike, if you sent a PM to SWS instead of -SWS, that would explain why I never received it. Dry sense of humor is okay by me.

A VB of 60% or higher speaks of the APAP being stumped for 60% of the time---and having to sit out from ordinary treatment. It also speaks of either chaotic sleep physiology or chaotic leaks. So fix the leaks, don't breathe out of your mouth, and see how treatment goes. If you still have a whopping 60% VB at that point, then narrow the APAP range, since your physiology may not like wide APAP fluctuations. You just may be experiencing slight APAP-induced homeostatic issues in physiology.

Good luck!

P.S. Fix the leaks! And don't breath through your mouth unless you have a full face mask.

Well, having just returned from the annual SAG Fishing Expedition (where there's not a lot of electronics around)(which is kinda the point of the whole thing)(not that I feel the need to report my whereabouts every 10 minutes)(cause I'm sure nobody really cares, anyway)(did I ever tell you how much I like parentheses?), that phrase certainly "caught" my eye (boy, how painful does that sound?)(Especially if you were using some sort of fishing implement).

Well, nobody appreciates "dry humor" more than SAG (but not as much as "quotation marks", which he appreciates even more than "parentheses")!
mth712 wrote:Did I pee in your Cheerios?
However, SAG views this as neither "dry" nor "humorous".
mth712 wrote:Did I have an opinion that bothered you somewhere? Is it because I do not go to great length to write so I sound super intelligent? Do I not curse enough and call people names?
I think you touched on this a little bit when you noted that your personality

Since the internet "First Impression" is created very quickly with a very limited number of cues, it is of the utmost importance that you properly "bait" your "hook" to insure that you will get the most "bites" ("fishing theme" continues)(as well as "parentheses")(and "quotation marks"). If you came back re-registered as "BigCans17" and replaced that avatar of the scrawny urchin with something a little more fitting I'll bet you'll overtake TMOAT replies in the first hour.

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.

@SAG's above humor:
mth712 wrote:I am not sure about chaotic sleep physiology.
There are many reasons in physiology that we experience variable breathing: some goo, some bad, and some simply benign. But one of the reasons that the VB part of the algorithm exists is to safely cope with the case in which pressure increase itself induced that variable breathing. That latter scenario can happen by pressure-inducing: 1) basic and common homeostatic disturbance, 2) somewhat less-common complex SDB, 3) simple wakefulness, etc.

So VB is an entirely ambiguous statistic. But very high VB probably reflects counterproductive sleep more often than not.
