I had my titration on July 6,2006 and got my cpap on July 20, 2006. I just recently got my original prescription for my cpap and a mask as you should too. Never no when you might need it or want to buy a new cpap for backup.I am going to do that since mine is two years old.

The manager and co-manager of the sleep center have both been sick but I am going to call them tomorrow to see where we are with getting a script written out. I am confidant in them getting it done quickly as they called me a few days after my GP visit to set up the study. But what I worry about more is getting what I want. I already know the mask I want as it was so comfortable and I had no leaks so that is part of the hurdle done with. But the machine is the heart of this all and I would like the best and want an auto. I DO plan on loosing weight and my doctor wants me to as well for my health. I don't want to have my machine re-configured with each 10 pounds I loose, noone is touching my machine once it's in my hands.. . I will insist on an auto for this reason too..

Thanks again everyone!

I was really lucky. It took me less then a week from the time I called the sleep Dr. to the time I had my machine. My scheduled is fairly flexible and was able to fit in with their cancellations.

I think for me it was better to go to a sleep DR. rather then my GP. I had told him a number of times I was having problems sleeping and that my wife said I stopped breathing many times a night. This went on for years. Last year I went skiing with a group of friends, one was a Nurse and she told me that something needed to be done. My buddies GF bugged me every morning for the next week to go in. While I was gone my wife had gone to one of those health fairs at the mall and picked up information of the local sleep clinic. That was enough and I decide to do it. I called the Dr. she had a cancellation in two days, I took that they scheduled a sleep test before I came in but I was going to be out of town the day they picked. They called and I was able to get in the night, they next day they called and told me I had to come back. I scheduled the second study for two days later they wrote the script and the hospital called the next day and helped me schedule an appt. with the DME later that day.

I have been on it now about 7 months. Progress has been very slow, some days are better then others. I have been exercising regularly now and trying to lose weight for other medical issues. But looking forward to another ski season which is good.

Be as flexible as you can and it should go a little faster.
