Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Yes, my average leak is 39. That's with the Activa. I have to wear a chinstrap and double tape my mouth to keep from leaking. My AHIs have been good. I just didn't know how long the apneas were before.

Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Another thing that I"ve noticed is that the machine rarely increases pressure when I have an apnea. It doesn't react at all. That's why I have the bottom raised so high. If i let the top pressure go up, I get NRs, so I have to cap that, too. I've been on CPAP for a year and have NEVER woken up feeling refreshed. Although I'm better than a year ago when I was spending 40 minutes a night in apnea.

Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
..bump..
Are number of apneas more important than length of apneas? Seems I'd rather have 20 apneas that only last 15 seconds, than 10 that last 36.6 seconds. Why doesn't the "M" respond to these apneas? You would think it would jump up a little in 36 seconds.

Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Bev, do you mind if I ask a question?
At what heating level do you set your humidifier?
Also, have you tried different (especially lower) heat settings to see if there might be an improvement in AHI (and time in apnea)?
I think that Wulfman Den is likely the reigning champ w 3.5 secs, but I'm not too far back w 5.0 (and my AHI over 10 mos is about 0.6). What did I do? I optimized my APAP settings to a very tight 2 cm range with the lower pressure just a nudge above my previously titrated pres. (This was determined empirically during a few months of patient fiddling using Encore to provide feedback.)
I also learned that more heat is not necessarily better regarding humidification (something I learned from Den's posts). If I heat at all, my AHI (and presumably time in apnea) nearly triples.
I've also considered trying diferent AFLEX levels (I've always been at AFLEX 2) but I think I'm pretty much optimized, so why goof things up when they are going well?
Good luck finding the right settings for your M series.

Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Captain,
I'm using my HH in passover mode, right now. And you and Den are correct. It lowered my AHI substantially. I should have known, because when I'm working outside in high humidity, I can't breathe through my nose at all.
I'm going to lower my Aflex to 1 and see if that helps. I was pretty happy with my getting my leak line straight, until I saw how long my apneas were and that the machine does not even try to stop them.
I can't figure out why they would make a machine for apnea that completely ignores the first apnea of a series (per SWS), even if that apnea last 36 seconds.

Re: Average Time in Apnea Per Day??????????
Wow, nice! Encore Pro Analyzer AA report says 10.1 seconds for me. This is down from 13.9 before I l changed my range from 5-15 to 5-11 recently. After the change my seconds fell. Not as low as yours though!Wulfman wrote:Depends on how long you sleep, how many events you have during that time and how long they last.Madbadvoodoo wrote:My Average Time in Apnea Per Day is 57 Secs… Can someone please tell me if that is a good number? My Time in Apnea per day was 1.3 just a few months ago…
Thanks!
If your average apnea is about 10 - 12 seconds in duration, you would be having about 5 - 6 per night.
My average is about 3.5 seconds per day.
