First night of cpap use

Post by Flower51 Terry » Wed Jun 29, 2005 8:02 am

I've been officially initiated into the cpap world....Last night was my first night and it was really pretty good.....dh said I'm still snoring some but not as loud as before. I'm wondering if I didn't have the nasal aire II in right or maybe its not sealing enough. The thing that took me awhile was initially falling asleep w/the woosh of my NasalAire II in my ears....I started doing some "imagining"....imagining being by a gently rolling bubbling brook, imagining being by the ocean and falling asleep to the sound of waves coming in and going out through the night....both sounds I love....it helped turn the sound into something restful and enjoyable...lulled me to sleep from there after I did the "imagination work".. I even slept through the usual morning schedule of automatically waking at 6am to take our 3 pooches out. Didn't get up until almost 9am. Terry

Well, congrats on making it through your first night. I'm guessing that the late snooze might have been from exhaustion from all the effort you put into trying to sleep? Hopefully this will get easier for you.

That noise is why I only use the Swift (also nasal pillows) for daytime naps and keep my Flexi 407 for the night. The flexi is almost silent and I often forget that it's on! (ever try scratching your nose while wearing a nasal mask? ) I do it all the time!!

etc...

ps...still need to work some things out w/rt...

respironics humidifier didn't lose any water overnight, even though it was on as a passive cold humidifier.

dh said I'm still snoring

may need a diff size canula for my Nasal Aire....not a snug fit as described in their video...it moves around some inside my nostrils...have to see how tonight goes first though.

She said I didn't get enough info from my sleep study (as in eeg/ekg etc...) for her to determine what is the appropriate therapy (she's thinking bilevel/bipap).....Wants me to call the dr for a script to go in another time. She said she cannot get enough info from the smart card to make that decision...dr concurred....My doc won't be back for a couple of wks from vacation though so...for now this is it...

ETC...dh was so sweet last night....some husbands might be turned off by the whole hosehead hookup thing...I could tell he wanted to put me at ease so I could relax and feel normal...hmmm...maybe we should start a thread called "romancing the mask"....What a sweetheart.

Hi Terry, congrats on becoming a hosehead! Yay!

Hope you start feeling better and get some good sleep now.

My Hubby has been fantastic about me wearing the mask at night, doesn't bother him a bit and that makes me feel good. He still calls me sexy when I have my gear on. LOL! Course when the wife sleeps better, so does the hubby, so that makes the hubbys like the gear even more, I think. Thank God for Loving, Sensitive Hubbys!!!
