How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
I have used a CPAP for sometime. My previous machine was an old sullivan. I recently got a new unit, one of the new Intellipap and love the machine but I have noticed something. My old prescription called for a pressure of 12. When I ordered the machine they set it up with a range of 10-14. I have noticed that the highest I have seen it was a 12.1 but most of the time it is reading the minimum of 10. I wonder if things have changed and I could actually get by with a lower level. Does anyone know how to change it. I hate to go through another study even though it has been several years. Thanks for your help!

If you don't get any answers - it will be because we haven't found out yet.

Since that machine is NOT data capable, how are you going to know that you are doing the right thing. Maybe software will eventually be released that will give you enough information to make an informed decision, but from those I have talked to, the AHI information is not available on that machine, so how would you know?

Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
have no idea, but if it is similar to the old machine, it might be:
1. Turn on the machine
2. Turn off the machine
3. Right after that, hold the down arrow down as well as the ramp button... while holding those 2 buttons down hit the power button and it takes you to the setup mode...
4. Scroll over using the Select button until you get to ipap and epap settings and use the up and down arrows to change the levels. When done turn off the machine.

Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
WW, this machine is not data capable but it does read the pressure being used at the time, as well as the highest pressure demanded during the session. I have had this machine for two weeks, one night it read 12.1, the highest besides that one event was 10.7. This is at the very bottom of the range on auto setting as currently set. I am thinking that maybe go to a 9-13 and see what happens with the readings. It makes sense to me that if I am staying at the very bottom of the range then my demand could actually be less. Am I wrong for this thinking? I am sure there are others much smarter than I on this subject on this forum.

Since I don't have one of those things, I don't know if the instructions in this manual work or not......but there seems to be some instructions about many of the settings.

That is just the patient's manual. I will see if I can dig my clinician's manual out tonight. The IntelliPAP has a multipart procedure to get to the clinician menu.

Snoredog's procedure also works with the IntelliPAP. From Snoredog:
1. Turn on the machine
2. Turn off the machine
3. Right after that, hold the down arrow down as well as the ramp [Delay] button... while holding those 2 buttons down hit the power button and it takes you to the setup mode...
4. Scroll over using the Select button until you get to ipap and epap settings and use the up and down arrows to change the levels. When done turn off the machine.

Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
9 or 10 to 12 or 13 sounds reasonable. I would be inclined to set the top to 12 or 12.5.
Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
First of all let me thank each of you who responded. The recommendation and directions to make the programming change worked precisely and I made the changes before retiring last night. I set the bottom limit at 8.5 and the top limit at 13.5. I found out that the range can be set anywhere you want it, there is not a limit on the range as I was told by my DME when I purchased the machine. This morning when I got up I reviewed the numbers.
I had the ramp set for 20 minutes and it started at the 8.5 when I first put the mask on last night. This morning I read the results and the highest pressure recorded last night was 9.2 so I feel I made the right choice in changing the pressure settings. I had no mask leaks and slept like a rock.
Once again thank everyone for their help!

Congratulations!
Could you tell us some more about which data - aside from the maximum reached - is available on the Intellipap screen?

Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
The one drawback of the Intellipap is that it does not have reporting software yet. It is supposedly in development, has been for 6 months now. The machine however will tell you the highs and lows during each session and inform you of mask leak issues if they arose during that session. Information is lost when the machine is powered off. This means you have to review before shutting down the machine, at least for now.

Re: How do I change pressure on an Intellipap?
I know this is an old thread, but it is relevant today as 8 years ago.
I have the Intellipap, and it has been working like a champ, but I recently lost 40+ pounds and am finding I don't need the 7 to 9 any longer. I note that there is a way to get a reference code out whereas you key the code in, and it tells you what events happened (not really time sensitive, just that it happened), events such as no breathing, leaks, hypopnea, etc. Trying to remember how to extract that code, I had it documented, but oh well, it is safe with some of my other secrets I guess.
Anyevent, until I get into the sleep doc to find out what my readings should be, I dropped my pressure down to 6-8, will see if that helps me sleep. Been wide awake otherwise every 2-3 hours...

If you have a data capable machine Sleepyhead will work with the Intellipap. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyheadLefty Greene wrote:I know this is an old thread, but it is relevant today as 8 years ago.

I would look at the data to determine if pressures need changing. Losing weight may or may not decrease your pressure needs.
