M Series heated humidifer too small?

Mine is one of the newer ones, I guess since it has a big black latch. I remembered to check mine today and it doesn't seem to be leaking. I guess it just uses a lot of water.

What a response. Hmph "If you should wake at some time, it is quite alright to add water if you wish.". Nice of them to give us that permission! Yes, I do wake up because I'm coughing from a dry throat!

Does the newest model of the M Series integrated himidifier leak sometimes too?

By the new ones I mean the ones with the staggered "things" and the round seals. I think this is the latest revision.

I'll try to take & post a picture of mine tomorrow night to show you what I have. I think it's the new version. Jerry says they have a large black latch, which mine has. It also has a strange design I guess could be called staggered and there are round seals.

I've only had it a week and I've checked -- it doesn't seem to leak so far.

If it has the round stagered seals and a large black latch it is the latest design. Ther is a new design with the square holes but with the big black latch which is an intermediate design change. It is supposed to not leak very much either. The staggered round seals is an attempt to keep you from getting water in the blower unit if you move it with water in the chamber. The leaky one has a small sliding latch that is green and a small teal colored "O" ring for a seal between the two halves of the chamber. The pressure will push the water past the seal even though the water is below the seal.

Either design will not help with using the water up in a 8 hour period generally if it is set above 3. The settings must be on the numbers (1 thru 5) and will not work right if you try to set it between the numbers.

mine does not seem to leak, but when I have it set at 4 or 5 it will use up all the water.....keep in mind i am a newbie and have only been "on the hose" (I like that saying ) for 10 days now.

Welcome to the forum and to hosing. Yup, that's my problem -- when I use the humidity at 4 or 5 and sleep more than 6 or 7 hours, it uses up all the water. In a post earlier on, someone posted a reply from Respironics who replied soemthing to the effect that it's been tested for something like 7 or 8 hours at level 5 but that other things like a full face mask could affect it. Well, like you, I use a quattro full face mask. My leak rate so far is 53 on average. When I figure out how to post my report online, I'll be posting it to ask people about the numbers, especially the leak rate, to see if they seem ok. However, the long and short of it seems to be that Respironics figures that we shouldn't sleep so long. Sigh.

I'll probably get an HC150 standalone humdifier and put this one away for when we travel. Just haven't had time to do this.

I did not find the chamber too small - however, I live in a humid climate and only use the "1" setting.
