I'm not saying you can't, I'm saying its a first for me.I eventually find out that with factory default, the machine might not treat my apean condition but when I lowered the apnea % from 10 to 5, it does reponse to my "faking out". Have any of you guys actually tried this faking out process? Thanks!
What you are doing is saying: "Hey, look at me I can cycle faster that the speed limit on the is street!" And achieving that by changing the limit from 40 to 20. Not sure what you achieve by that.
"Like it is" is the way Apnea, Hypopnea etc. are defined buy the medical community so that everyone know exactly what is meant when someone says "Apnea". A ping pong ball is a ball too, but that doesn't you can win the Wimbledon championship with it.
And you won't win the Tour de France by finding a great shortcut around the mountains either.

I think what people are trying to tell you is that by changing the apnea percentage, you are changing how the machine understands what an apnea is. The machine came with definitions which you changed by changing the apnea percentage. By doing this, you have made your machine more responsive than it should be. In effect, it now reads all hypopneas as apneas by your change. That is what they mean about taking shortcuts and such.Hi Ozij. I am simply reflect my observation based on fact. And the fact is that I can see on the screen that the pressure rises up if I do the "fake out".
I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS MACHINE RECORD AHI IN SHORT TIME OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!
All I am saying is if I change the apnea percentage, the pressure rise during my fake out and if I don't change it and leave it with factory, then the machine does not!
I think they are recommending that now you know your machine works from your fake out, it might be most helpful for your sleep apnea if you set it back to what it was and let the machine do its job without being constantly tested.
And yes, I have also tried to hold my breath to see what happens. I did it while awake and nothing happened. However, I know my machine works because I have woken up at night with higher pressure blowing at me and because I have the software data.
