shaking during the night
shaking during the night
Ok, question as I am still a newbie on this board and to the sleep apnea stuff.
My wife says that since I got on my biPAP machine, I have a tendancy to shake, more or less like seisure shanking but it only lasts for a few seconds.
Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? I have talked to the doc but all they said is that I need to come in and see them but they can't get in me for 2 weeks.
Thanks.

Any chance it could be a blood sugar reaction? I get the shivers sometimes when my blood sugar is messed up, just can't get warm and feel somewhat distressed. I think you might have been describing that you are still asleep, though, and that your wife is witnessing this, not you actually experiencing it, so I may be totally off the mark in that case. Just an idea.

Re: shaking during the night
Is it an abrupt one-time shake, or does it continue for a duration measurable in 2 or more seconds? How long exactly?bigjay wrote:My wife says that since I got on my biPAP machine, I have a tendancy to shake, more or less like seisure shanking but it only lasts for a few seconds.
Does it wake you up?

Is it your whole body, just your legs or other extremities?

ok, sorry for the late response. Been one of those weeks.
As far as the shaking goes, it does not wake me up and it does not wake my wife up. My wife just has been going to bed later than me lately and notices it while laying there next to me. She said it is my whole body that is doing the shaking and it only lasts for a few seconds(probably between 2 and 5 seconds) and then goes away.
As far as blood sugar levels go, I had a full blood panel done just before I went in for the original sleep study so that would be about 2 months ago and it came back with those levels as perfectly normal.
As far as eating goes, it usually depends on the night but it could be chips or could be one of those frozen appetizers that my wife and I share, it could be ice cream but I usually don't eat just before bed, it is usually an hour or two before when I have my late night snack.

Re: shaking during the night
This happens to my grandmother who shakes when she's on the bipap. It wakes her up one time throughout the night and lasts for a few mins. She says she's shivering but doest know why. What else could cause this besides blood sugar and protein . She thinks it's from the bipap bc it happened in the hospital and at home with her trilogy. Any suggestions? Thanks.DreamDiver wrote:Is it an abrupt one-time shake, or does it continue for a duration measurable in 2 or more seconds? Well, if it only happens once in nine years, I would just ignore it.
It would have been nice if the original poster (in 2008) had returned to report an outcome.

I vote they either got better, got worse or died. Too bad old posts never die, not good enough just to read them , must post on them. Much easier than having a orgional thought. Jim

Happened to my rich brother in law; turned out to be low oxygen saturation, caused by cardiac condition. 2 stents to solve problem. Hope this not your case, but deserves attention.
