How to set your hose on fire with a reptile cord
well, yes, you do. But remember, you can put them back in their cage when your bored with them. It might go better with that knowledge.
by the way, the snake I recommend grows to a max of 10-15 feet long. Don't get a python. They grow too long to keep in captivity and all the people I know who had them, ended up giving them to zoos when they got to about 20 feet long. Unfortunately, the smaller snakes are not as cuddly.

You better catch him before he finishes eating otherwise the "RACE IS ON"! Of course timing is everything, if you give him the shot to early he will ocasionally quit eating and then his sugar drops to low. It is really my wifes cat so I don't have much to do with the treatment. I have to watch that I don't get the cats insulin, It has a ingrediant in it that I am alergic to and will put me in cardiac arrest.birdshell wrote:Well, a diabetic cat is pretty bad! How long does it take to catch the kitty for a shot?
I can't imagine a cat on dialysis that would be a real problem!

[quote="Anonymous"]Dan, save yourself the embarrassment and buy a hose online. They are dirt cheap. Shipping to Oz will be spendy, but probably not THAT BAD.
If you get hung up, PM me. I can buy a hose for $8, and ship it to you for less than $20.
I have no idea how I got through my days at work before your HILARIOUS postings.

Lol I can think of plenty of things you could mail me but sadly they will be intercepted by customs, my partner, Interpol or all the above.Anonymous wrote:Oops, I posted my "helpful" post too late. Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, now you know. Hit up the US friends first before buying locally.
Of course, I don't have a Resmed. Could be your Resmed hose is fancier than my Respironics hose, which I can get for $8.
I found out through shipping a mask to McKooi that it's really not that painful to mail stuff to Oz. Now I know how, I don't want to stop. Do think of something I can mail you.
Crossfit - Being middle-aged and single, it's time for me to invest in Livestock. My sister - also middle aged and single - already has cats. Other sister - creeping up on middle age, and decidedly single - is the Ferret Fancier. I think there's clearly no other way for me to go than Reptiles.
What do you suggest? I was thinking Iguana, because they seem like fun pets you could take for walks.
But the snakes are so much more cuddly. Sorta like smooth-skinned koalas, really.
LOL,

I would go with a snake. I love snakes. Just go with a red tail boa. And whatever you do, try and get to know the reptile first. They do have different personalities believe it or not.
I used to have a couple carpet snakes, but the second one I got off the side of the road started to worry me.
He looked and acted a little bit too much like a couple poisonous snakes (gwarda?) when I checked a book. He used to just strike the mice and then retreat, didn't give em the python cuddle at all. The mice would just drop dead.
But he had a carpety pattern and was the right shape (long, skinny , head at one end) so close enough for me. I used to try and train him to be calm (..."think happy thoughts snake"...)when I picked him up but he just struck at everything. I'd throw a towel over him then get him behind the head and try and let him loose a bit but he was just determined to bite. I had to get some ticks etc off it at first so maybe he just held a grudge. He escaped into the neighbourhood eventually.
My neighbours don't really like me that much anyhow I guess...
so wait a second...
Dan, your saying your IN Australia and you have to order the Australian Heated Hose from the US?
And that does sound like it was not a huggy snake but a venomous one. I didn't mention the 5 rattlesnakes in that group at my house during my snake rescue week. Luckily, I didn't have to feed them. Only provide them with a cool, private room.

No, sorry my fault that was a bit of a garbled reply there - I ordered a standard hose from the USA and will order a couple spare standard hoses from the USA as well. I also ordered an Aussie heated hose today direct from within Australia - in fact the gentleman was nice enough to ring me first thing this morning and arrange it. Supposedly there is some kind of trial going on with them in Perth as well so he was interested in where I was from. I mentioned my confusion about the heated hose, how I didn't realise that it was low voltage etc because the web page doesnt display properly in my browser.. Apparently they are jumping through all sorts of hoops to make sure its as safe as they can. He mentioned some approvals and endorsements when I said some people were cautious about FDA(?) approvals in the USA but I was dropping the kids off so I cant recall what they were exactly. Anyway, I will compare it to the F&P ones later and see how it goes.crossfit wrote:so wait a second...

I ordered that mouth cup thing they have as well and he threw it in free for me, a very friendly chap.

Dan, it seems as if the part in bold is an understatement. The chap should be handing you a heated hose AND the chin cup thing free of charge...look at all the wonderful free advertising you are providing.

What kind of a bloke is he? You may not be mates, or at least, not yet...but hey! Business is business!

Re:
Don't go getting all overconfident there, makinOz. I've been using my 15W since February. The other night I woke to a horrendous whoosh of air noise - the sound of my cable melting down in numerous places. I think the key here is to pay some attention to the part that says "wrap around hose **cover**." I thought the cover did a lovely job of keeping the cable in place and not letting it bug me.markinOz wrote:80 watts, that sure is some power.
I have been using a 15w, 2 metre cord for a couple of months. Takes the edge off just enough to stop the rain out. Doesn't even come close to heating up to melt stage.
