scary....

Post by so tired » Sun Jun 19, 2005 4:13 pm

Last night I woke up about 3:30 with the machine turned off, but I still had the Breeze headgear on!! I have read where many people wake up with their masks and machines both off, but not what happened to me. It was kinda scary to think I was only rebreathing the Co2, and of course, I have no idea how long it went on. What could this do to me if it happens again? I just have the straight Cpap with the Remstar Lite, so no alarms.

First thing you would do is wake up!

Next stage, you become disoriented and develop a headache.

It probably wouldn't go any farther than that because you have vents on your mask that would let in a bit of fresh air... but you would have quite the headache (It goes away after an hour or two.)

XPAP machines blow forced air but do not stop the air flow when the machine is off. You still can get air through the machine even when off its just not blowing. With all the mouth taping and other things people do to limit the air flow if they didn't do this there would be a lot of dead people out their.

So i wouldn't worry so much you weren't rebreathing your CO2. It was more like your breathing before CPAP.
