Re: M-series AutoCpap machine users--help me please!
Hello, Tealady! GoodnightHoser here. (Everynight before I 'hose up' I say to my husband, "Say 'Goodnight, Hoser' and he whispers "Goodnight, Hoser..." Ain't it romantic?) It's been a while since I posted that original message. I was spending an inordinate amount of late night hours on this forum learning and avoiding going to bed. I was officially diagnosed in March. My husband was awake all night waking me up to make sure I wasn't dead. I bet I've suffered from this for at least 10 years. Haven't slept more than a couple hours at a time since my first child was born 18 years ago. My husband is a solo mixed animal vet. The phone rings all night. Babies were up all night. Teenagers were up all night. Various and asundry animals were up all night. Coyotes howl all night. Horses start screaming to be fed at 5:30. And thoses are just the givens. So I am used to bad sleep. Plenty of sugar and caffeine kept me fully functioning (with high blood pressure and 50 extra pounds). Everything I know about sleep apnea came from fellow hosers and this forum--bless your hearts! I FINALLY DITCHED the original Resmed S8 elite (it was rent to buy) and forced them to give me the new Resmed S8 2. They were not HAPPY to give me what I wanted -- but I DEMANDED it (nicely I might add) thanks to support from this forum. I also changed the settings on it myself (thanks to the Cpap underground). Finally got my sleep study results printed up and handed to me. The machine is promoted as 75% percent quieter and it IS. I can now manage maybe 2-3 hours at a time with it on. Then off an hour and maybe I'll put it on for another 45 minutes. (We only have time for about 6 hours in bed a night.) My blood pressure is back to normal. Weight the same. Energy level the same. Self esteem plummetting. Sense of humor intact. I am now trying to find time to have surgery on my engorged turbinates, deviated septum and polyps. Anyway---my advice to you. DEMAND (in a nice way) help and answers from your doctors. Stay connected with all of us -- some of the folks on here are AMAZING with their knowledge and concern. Get advice from your friends and relatives on cpap--they are out there. I've got a long way to go (I keep telling myself "It's just AIR"). At 51 I can no longer expect this body to keep functioning without some help from me. But as of today I'm still on the "day before the diet". Sigh. You are not alone. I will say little prayers for you while I am adjusting leaks and staring at the clock instead of sleeping... GoodnightHoser (still a newbie)
I would not put a thief if my mouth to steal my brains.

I love my M series with C-Flex. It's very quiet and it sits right by my head on a night stand. At least my wife thinks it's quiet. I have trouble hearing anyway thanks to a few deployments. I'm not sure how well of a gauge my hearing is but as stated before, it doesn't bother me or my wife. I haven't used the A-Flex so that model may just be more noisy than the C-Flex.
