I have been using my ResMed S7 Lightweight with heated humidifier for a week and a half or so. It's very quiet and so far I'm loving it. I'm new to CPAP so I've not had any different experiences with different xpaps. My S7 is is very easy to use, easy to fill the humidity chamber and extremely simple to turn off and on. I'm sure others will have more info on other ResMeds.

My health care provider says the Resmed apap software is the best. The resmed units i had on loan were many many times louder than the REMstar I finally bought. Since noise was a big treatment acceptance factor for me, I'm glad I went with the REMstar.

I really like my new two month old ResMed AutoSet Spirit, that replaced a six year old Devilbliss Auto LT. It is very quiet, and has the automatic startup/stop settings that I like. The software package is also very easy to use, and there is a built in humidifier option if you need a humidifier. I highly recommend it.

Resmed is a great unit. They invented the cpap. One thing to think of. If you like to go camping or Live where the power fails often consider a unit that will run off of 12 volts without using any converters . The GK420 E will operate for weeks from an inexpensive $58 Wal Mart deep cycle battery. I have tested mine for 2 weeks so I know this to be true. The 420 is very efficient. It uses less than 1 amp per hour. Something to think of if you live in hurricane country or enjoy camping.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

So running my genset in my motorhome doesn't count as camping?

Mike,

Well, I consider camping in a quiet place without fumes fun. noise and fumes no fun, so NO . Now I do enjoy air conditioning so if you have room for 1 more ,sorry, forgot the wife, 2 more, I'll call it camping. What about at home when the power goes, and goes, gone, for days, like in Florida hurricane.

I keep mine connected to battery power always, When the storms roll in I don't even notice. It will last weeks if needed.

Chris

The first machine I was given was the Resmed S7 Elite with a Tiara SNAPP mask. It was set at 5 at the time because I was waiting for the titration sleep study. I tried for 3 days to work up to keeping the mask on for 30 minutes to an hour. I was really struggling to exhale against that pressure and felt like such a failure. Also the SNAPP was hurting my nostrils it felt like needles stabbing me. I called my sleep study tech and told her about my difficulties. She was very unhappy with the DME company and told me that had not been the machine that my doctor had ordered for me. She made the arrangements with another company to set me up with the RemStar Pro with CFLEX and they gave me a different mask (Respironics comfortlite) and I have been able to keep my mask on for a full night. My titration study was awful but I am now set at 10 and have been compliant for 4 nights now. I feel like my sleep is improving and now think that I will be able to do this.

Everything that I have ever done is a pale imitation of what I had in mind...

I use a ResMed Spirit with inteegrated heated humidifier and love the machine. It's quiet and dependable. I also have the software for it, and find it easy to use. The only problem with it is the size. I travel frequently, and although it has a very nice travel bag, it is big! Overall, I am highly satisfied.

Im so glad you told me about the battery at WalMart. Do you know how about what the deep cycle battery weighs and if its allowed on international flights? I'm asking because when we do humanitarian aid/mission work in Cuba we exp power failures.
They are VERY choosy about what they let in and out, both on our end and theirs. With the tension between our govts esp, and with the extra security at airports since 9/11 I can't help but wonder.

ps...I'm pretty dumb about mechanical things.... I will go peruse the specs on the following at cpap.com and see if I can figure it out from their list, but do you know off the top of your head if the 420G plain old cpap w/humidifier also can use this battery w/out special hook ups???? Thanks for being so patient! T

The Wal Mart battery won't work for air travel.
Just buy the battery in cuba. If you want to purchase a battery here it must be a nonspilable gel battery. Link:

resmed cpap

Post by pemoha » Wed Jun 22, 2005 2:51 pm

I have a Resmed Vpap 3, it's a bipap. I was on cpaps before a recent sleep study and I was put on bipap. The machine itself is ok but the humidifier chamber is a pain to disconnect and fill.

I have the REsMed S7 Lightweight and it is very quiet.

I have found it is not the machine that is noisy, but an ill fitting mask.

I now have the Small Hans Rudolph and I need to get in touch with my DME tomorrow to have them order the Petite.

I have now had two full nights of sleep with my CPAP and I have had it since March.

YEA HR.
