Smart Card Trouble

Post by bap40 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 9:54 am

In the past 3 days, my smart card for Encore Pro has not recorded data. I have read on here that it does do that occasionally, but is 3 days in a row the norm? I have had it skip a day here and there, but not for 3 days. Any ideas? Or is this typical? Maybe the card has become defective? I download daily by the way, usually in the morning.

So far, I've only had it skip a day.

I'm superstitious, though, I leave it in there until Noon, then I read it.

Might be the card's going bad. Can't hurt to get another card.

Good luck!!!!

I've been through 3 (count 'em, 3) that wouldn't record any data. I know it wasn't me.
I'm waiting for my new Resmed......

Have you used CardUtility.exe by MyCPAP to format the card?

No but I will if it might help. The card had been recording data in the past. What happens to them? I do have another one that I thought I had lost but has been found....

The card utility is really neat. First use it to download the card and save the card contents, then you could return to that place in time by restoring the data to the card.

The card architecture for the M Series was figured out by a non-genius. If it needs to skip 2 or 3 days to make enough room for what it thinks it will take for 7 sleep sessions that is what it does! Terrible design.

Obviously be sure you can see the card in the upper right window! Lay down and take a 30 minute nap and then download the card again. Don't wait til noon, just wait a few minutes and you will know whether it is truly broken or it just wanted to skip 3 days!

If you have a spare card use it - it WILL work. Be sure to write on them so you don't get them confused.

The card is not bad if the machine doesn't beep. The problem does stem from the number of sessions already on the card.

Now be honest - have you taken a few naps this week? Had a power outage? or shut the machine power off then turned it back on for some reason? or used the machine to blow dry something after cleaning? These things are better done w/o the card in.

Good Luck,
GumbyCT

The card does not do anything more than that one little beep when installed in back of machine, but I have been resetting the therapy data by unplugging machine and doing the holding down of buttons and re-plugging in. Can doing that cause card issues? Hmmm

Possiably, when you create a script on the card it zero's it. Jim

One beep is good. Turning off the power will end the session you are on & begin a new one, thats all. I think the card has a limit of 3 sessions per day.

Apparently I freaked too soon as my card did download this morning. I did try and find that utility to re-format my card but had no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you all.

hi,

use a eraser rubber type and slow rub on the smart card contacts the golden metal part....a few times and it will take the clean up for better contacts. if still not working well then you need to backup the date bu using the card utility and reformat it....should work again. good luck.
