about the new mask I just got....my insurance allows for a new mask/headgear, tubing, and filters every three months.....I've been on CPAP for 107 days without missing a single night.....I have been using my nose mask which didn't take much effort to get used to, but I wanted a full face mask in case I get a cold and need to breath through my mouth....the problem is, I can fall asleep with it, but wake up maybe 2-3 hours later, I wake up feeling as though I can't get my breath....I guess I don't open my mouth much when using the nose mask, so maybe when I'm asleep with the new full face mask, I still don't open my mouth to breath.....I should still be using my nose to breath, but I feel smothered somewhat to the point that I wake up and switch masks at 1am in the morning.....
I hate to wait until I have a cold and have to use the full face mask....especially if I can't even use it now with NO cold....I'm not sure if I should just keep plugging away at the FF until it "clicks"??.....

Hello Tekman,
Just my opinion, but if you are doing so well with the nasal mask I would not worry about the FF mask and a cold. Tackle the problem when it comes up.
I used to get two or three colds each year. I have been using cpap for two years and seven months and have not had a cold during this time. Others here report similar experiences. So maybe it will be a long time before you get a cold.
Regarding feeling like you can't get your breath, what is your pressure?
Regards,
Rooster

my pressure is at
9.0.......I use the ramp feature for 15 mins at 5.0, but most times I'm asleep before I notice the pressure going up.....I HOPE you are right about colds....maybe on two nights i had some nasal stuffiness and before the next morning my nasal passages were clear again.....
One thing CPAP has done for me is that I no longer have those morning headaches....which is FINE by me......I still sometimes feel just a little sleepy at times, but according to the AHI #'s, the machine is keping the AHI's around 3.5-6-ish...with the AI's being less than .5 most nights.....
I usually only sleep 5-6 hrs, maybe as much as 7 hrs a night if I'm lucky...but it's a better quality of sleep now.....
The new FF mask I just got is the RESMED Mirage Quattro.....but I'll stick with just the nose mask as long as I can.....
