Help with changing pressure settings on HC604

Post by George128 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 2:06 pm

Can anyone tell me how to change the pressure settings on the HC604. I didn't get a clinical manual and need to lower the settings. Please help!

You might want to try looking either under the lightbulb or the facts section. I think they might have some of the manuals available. Not sure if that is where I saw them listed or on another site.

This is for an HC234 (below), but might work on your machine.

Or, you could download this version for the SleepStyle 600 and see if it's the same as yours.

- Turn on the HC234.

- Enter programming mode by holding down the "RAMP" (top) button and the "Next" (Right arrow/bottom button) for three seconds.

- The first screen will allow you to set adjust altitude, which is indicated by a drawing of a mountain range on the screen. You can change this to "m" for meters or "ft" for feet by pressing the Up or Down keys. Press the Right Arrow key to allow changing the altitude setting.

- Press the "NEXT" (Right arrow/bottom button) to advance to pressure setting which will be indicated by the characters "cm h20 " on the screen. Use the Up and Down keys to change the pressure setting.

- Lastly, push that bottom button again to exit programming mode.

Thanks! Was able to download clinical manual and it worked great! Slept a lot better last night. The doc keeps on raising the pressure. I tried the 14 he set for a month and was not sleeping well. I was sleeping great at 12 but he wanted to change it. After the change I was drifting off at work, felt tired in the morning, dry throat!??? I put it back to 12 and may even try 10. He'll freak out when I tell him I changed it. He freaked out when I told him I had been using the same machine for 10 years, that I was given by the AF when I retired and that I repaired myself twice. Finally couldn't get parts for it and that's how I ended up going to him and getting the new setup. Now every 2 years he wants a sleeptest even though sleeping fine. Even when the test says I do best at 12, he believes the pressure should be higher.

George,

Are you absolutely sure you're not leaking air out of your mouth at night? It's one of the most prevalent problems for people who wear nasal masks. And, without a data capable machine and software, it'll be hard for you to see what (if any) effect it may be having on your therapy. For what you may have to pay for additional (future) sleep studies, you could easily justify getting a data-capable machine. That way, you could possibly disprove your doctor.
Also, have you tried taping or using Polident adhesive denture strips to seal your lips?

Den,

Thanks for the info. Some air would leak occasionally from moving in bed, but not often. All I know is that after several nights of trying, it's obvious to me that I'm sleeping a lot better and not tired during the day anymore now that I lowered the pressure from 14 to 12. I wasn't aware of data-capable machines and will look into it. Thanks again for your help!
