Owners Manuals?

Post by Diggy » Sat Jul 05, 2008 6:52 pm

My DME apperantly has an agreement with my insurance company that allows the "rental" of equipment, meaning I'll never "own" my machine. Well in discussion with my sleep doctor, I found out that Aetna also allows DME's to "rent" used equipment. As such I did not recieve a new unit and am without an owners manual.

Is there somewhere I can find an owners manual for a RemStar M Series Pro? I've heard rumors that is has an "Auto On" feature but cant figure out how to turn it on. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you'll PM me with your e-mail address, I'll send you a .pdf version of what they took out. Is it the M Series Pro version you have?
Or, if you just need some instructions on how to get into the setup menu, there's a text version here:

There have also been numerous postings of those basic instructions on this forum, too.

I don't think you can turn off the Auto On feature. It is considered to be a safety feature. If you get a power fluxiation it will turn it back on. Some full fase masks do have trouble with the Auto On feture because the volume is so large and CO2 exhale ports are so large it does not come on very fast.

If it does not work take it back to your supplier and tell them it is broke.

Actually, I was looking at my machine today and realised I have a RemStar M Series Auto, not pro But the manuals that both of you provided still worked.

Next question, if the Auto On feature isn't working, should I return it? I sat with my mask on in bed breathing until it became uncomfortable and nothing happened. Granted it wasn't an really long time, but I felt it should have turned on atleast by then.. It was at least 15-20 seconds, does it take longer?

Frankly, what do you eve NEED the AutoOn feature for? I don't like that option and its one of the first I turn off. I'm a big girl and am perfectly capable of pressing that On/Off button myself, thank you.

Check your e-mail. And, I doubt that there's anything wrong with your auto-on feature. They can be kind of finicky at times depending on the amount of air you do or don't force into the mask.....and which mask you're using.

The "Auto-ON" feature is NOT an optional setting on the REMstar machines.
The "Auto-OFF" is, however.......and I advise turning that one OFF.

Den's right, they are finicky. Sometimes with my Hybrid, the thing will turn on before I even finish strapping the mask on. Other times, it never does and I have to get up and turn it on. I know, pretty lazy when I don't feel like getting up and walking two steps to bend over and turn it on with the button.

I use the auto on feature all the time and never had a problem with it. Usually 5 to 10 seconds and it's runing.

Considering the mask you have.... I would think the Auto On feature should come on right away.
