Remstar plus w/c-flex how to adjust ramp?

Post by *Tish* » Mon Jun 13, 2005 9:45 pm

Hi. I'm a newbie. I started c-pap a little over a week ago and thanks to this forum knew enough to ask for a machine with c-flex. Thanks!

I've got the Remstar Plus w/c-flex and would like to adjust for a longer ramp time. It is currently set for 10 minutes and I need just a bit longer to fall asleep and adjust for right now. Of course the DME did not give me the clinician's manual and I can't figure out how to adjust that.

For what it's worth, my DME is not totally evil . . . I do have to say that they have allowed me to switch out masks. I tried 2 different ones and decided to stick with the Activa since I move around a good bit in the night.

This forum has been really informative for me and I appreciate all the experience you guys have shared.

You need the super secret clinician's manual, or you just need to know that you unplug the puppy, press down both the "left" and "right" buttons (also known as the user buttons) and plug it back in while holding down those buttons. That'll bring up the settings menu. Using the "user buttons" will move you through the menus, pressing the humidifier and ramp buttons will move you up or down in the settings.

You can also download the basic manual (so you'll know what all the buttons and symbols mean), at remstar.respironics.com .

Be careful about changing your settings and be sure to only change them a little at a time. DMEs don't like us tweaking things ourselves, and there's some wisdom to that even though it's not rocket science either. I moved my own overall pressure up one whole cm myself, but pretty much left everything else at what the DME gave me. My DME didn't say anything when he checked the machine the other day, but others might.
