remstar plus with cflex vs remstar auto

Post by lawyermandotcom@yahoo.com » Mon Jun 13, 2005 9:13 pm

Hiya

Would someone kindly tell me the difference between the remstar plus with cflex vs remstar auto.

Isn't the cflex function and the auto function basically the same thing ?

Thanks and good luck !

CFlex is an feature from Respironics available on some of their machines. It provides pressure relief during exhale to make it easier (more comfortable). This can be set from "1" least pressure relief to "3" most pressure relief.

Heres a good description of fixed CPAP versus Auto CPAP:

The Remstar Auto is available with and without CFLEX. What makes the Remstar Auto with CFlex unique (for now) is that it combines in to one machine the ability to use it
- As an Auto with CFlex
- As an Auto without CFlex
- As a fixed CPAP with CFlex
- As a fixed CPAP without CFlex

Well, as simply as I can put it:
  • Cflex is a feature that releases pressure during your exhale so you are not exhaling against high pressure.
Auto is a feature that adjusts overall pressure automatically to eliminate your apneas and hypopneas.
A CPAP (non auto) runs at a fixed pressure.
