AHI higher with new Resmed Autoset II

Post by joel » Mon Jun 23, 2008 5:45 pm

I would like feedback on my results since changing from a Respironics Auto Cflex to a Resmed Autoset II. I have used the Autoset for 2 weeks.

With the Cflex I had a steady AHI of 1 about every night for a month.

With the Autoset II my AHI is about 2.8 every night (2.7 HI & .1 AI).

With both I used the Auto setting from 5-15. A pressure of 9 seemed to be where both machines put me so I am experimenting with the Autoset using auto with a range of 7-11. I am aslo trying with and w/o EPR. (i find EPR is easier to fall asleep with)

I read one post say that Resmed machines always post a higher HI - is this true (is it normal?)

By the way - I am using an Opus 360 and plan on getting a Swift LT.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I've never used a Resmed but have read quite a number of times on this forum from people that do use them that the Resmed interprets more things as hypopneas than the Respironics. The most important thing is that your AI is nice and low and your HI is still quite reasonable.

I've seen the same Joel - Resmed seems to always report a higher AHI - yours sounds quite low anyway.

Mine is averaging around 4 and my AI is usually 0 or at least less than 1.

Thanks for the input - sounds like my results are pretty good.

I was trying to decide how much tweaking to do to try to lower my numbers but maybe I should try to find the settings that are the most comfortable for me that keep my current numbers instead.

If 9 cm is your 90% or 95% value, your min pressure should not be less than about 8 cm and if you use exhalation relief it should not be less than about 10 cm
