Nobody - I'll leave it to Anne to describe what happened, but the thing to remember is that the Sandman is a small, light machine and thus not as stable as one might like. It's about trade-offs. I have a non-skid mat on the nightstand under mine and I have hose management so there's not any stress on the machine. Without the arrangements I'm using, there would be a risk of the machine overturning or falling off the nightstand if I tossed and turned during the night. In that event, if one has the integrated humidifer, water can get inside the machine and ruin it. So the integrated humidifer is the weak spot for the Sandman.
The Respironics also has issues with the integrated humidifier but the machine itself is heavier and thus is less likely to be fall off. However the tank for the Respironics humidifier doesn't hold enough water for some.

Nobody,
I was asleep when I turned in bed the first time. I must have got my arm caught in the hose and caused the machine to fall off the night table. After that night, I begain leaving the machine on the carpet by my bed.
My bed is lined up against the window wall.
The second incident also happened while sleeping. I was awakened by a very strong gust of wind and rain blowing through my window around 3am I immediately sat up in bed to close the window. I then felt a gurgling in my mask and realized that my machine must have overturned.
I don't have a problem of sleepwalking.
The Sandman Auto is a great little machine and has really good software. I love this machine. The only downside is that because it is so light and has an integrated humidifier it can tip very easily. If I were just going to purchase this machine, and I would still recommend it, I would suggest getting the Sandman Auto without the integrated humidifier and then get the stand alone humidifer to go with it. When I purchased my Sandman auto I wasn't aware you could get one without the integrated humidifier.

I chose the Sandman Auto, it had good reviews from the likes of Mindy and the price was better for me as insurance here won't pay for it. My 2nd choice was the Intellipap & 3rd would have been the S8 II. The Sandman seemed to have some nice software reporting options, it was also small, light & quiet. I also didn't have to buy a seperate humidifier, but I don't need to use it here. While it's quiet when pumping out, I still sound like Darth Vader on exhale, as I wasn't expecting the exhale to cause the machine to make a different sound. It's almost as though it has an exhale adjustment, but it doesn't, but it's doing something. I'm mostly used to the sounds, but not this morning at 4:30.

I MUST stay off my back to reduce OSA & snoring. I use a small backpack of solid styrofoam to keep me on my side (tennis balls too small), & use DIY customized soft foam pillow to keep my head in a side sleeping position to eliminate most OSA.

Hmmm - that sounds familiar. I think I noticed that exhale sound for the first few days but haven't noticed it since. I hope you'll have a similar experience!
I did turn off IFL but don't know think that made a difference.
