I have a strong personal reason. I simply could not take the pressure changes; must have kept me waking up or making me hold my breath or whatever. At 5-8 I was getting AHI of 9-11 (had started with 4-10, by the doctor partly at my request after reading all the posts here, the AHI then was even higher!) Now after 2 weeks on fixed 6, I am sleeping well, my AHI is down to 5!! So at least for some variation is bad, and the larger the range the more trouble for them Untreated I have close to 30 ahi.

I will be increasing in fixed increments of about 0.5 for the next few weeks, and hope I can even further bring down the AHI.

restricting pressure range

I'm really interested to know how it went at 11-15 last night. It does take a few days to adjust to a new setting but an increase of 2 cm at once may b etoo much for you. I hope 11-15 went better and you need to give it a few days before changing again.

Well, I actually decided to just try one more night at 12-15. I kept thinking that part of the problem the night before was that I just had so much trouble getting to sleep and maybe not so much the pressure.

And last night was better. I slept through the night. My AHI was back down to ~3 and my SI was 4 and my leak numbers were back down to where they usually are. So I might stick with that for the rest of the week and see how it goes.

Reason for restricting pressure range

I assume that "guest" is you Bill. I'm glad last night was better! It does take time and changing pressures too often just makes things worse. It will be interesting to see how the next several days to a week go if you stay at 12 -15. There are many reasons why we have trouble some nights with sleep. It doesn't seem to matter how long you have been on cpap or how well you have been doing, every once it a while there is a bad night. Remember problem nights happens to people who do not have sleep apnea as well!!
