Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

Last night I was reading a book called "Move Your Body, Tone Your Mood" and ran into this quotation:

Ashley Montagu: "The idea is to die young as late as possible."

And moving our body does a lot to help us achieve this aim.

The CDC and Tufts site have the same program, I find the Tufts friendlier - but that may be just a personal preference.

And http://www.mayoclinic.com has a collection of instructional videos showing how to make the moves:

My husband and I have conversations about this subject all the time. I generally think I am younger than I am until I try to do something I could do when I was in my 30's! Or pass a mirror. The deal with me is that I don't mind getting old. I just mind feeling old and when your tired and sleepy and aching in all the wrong spots it makes me feel old. I expect my husband to snap one day and take me out to the backyard and shoot me like an old horse!
Some things do change as we get older though because now when someone says they are 70 that no longer seems old to me and when someone is complaining and they are young (under 30) I think....you just wait! Whether you think an age is young or old us usually determined from what your own age is, right?

Just like Clinton said: "I feel your pain..."
Getting older is just plain painful. I'm 48 and it all hurts. My knees and elbows hurt. My fingers hurt. And if I move wrong my lower back hurts. But I can live with all that. I've had my second attack of gout and nothing that has ever happened to me, (even combined,) comes close to that pain.

Next week is a year that I quit smoking so at least my chest and throat no longer hurt.
In pain is better than in the ground.

I am not quite a half century ..but I can relate to falling apart...but I really wonder how much worse it would be without CPAP?

Ah least we got each other to grow old with...just bury me with my CPAP.

I'm so embarrassed at work. I don't know WHAT I AM DOING, but everytime I lift even the smallest item, someone comes rushing in to offer to carry it for me. This happens frequently. I'm gonna have to ask someone what it is that makes them think I'm having a coronary, when I am perfectly capable of carrying the load.

ME, ME, ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I may not be alive when you are ready because I am a REAL OLD 69.

Missed this. Okay, but please use a FOWLER. I don't want you missing the mark with a rifle and leaving me MAIMED. Dad informed me you have a better chance of killing yourself with a shotgun than a single bullet style.

I've been to Friendship! Didn't shoot, but I bought a lot of pretty trinkets. The swap meet next door was very nearly as fun...

Jerry, couldn't see the pic. I'm presuming its at least a circa pre-1840 borestuffer. And no percussion caps, neither!!! Cap guns are for SISSIES!

If I'd ever thought I'd get this old I'd have taken much better care of myself.....
Getting old surely sucks, but it does beat the alternative.....I figure it's only as bad as I make it.....
I also figure any day I can sit up and take nourishment is going to be a good day. So if I see the grass from the green side I'm pretty stoked!!!

When I was 19 I was in Vietnam where I learned to live each day for itself and to its fullest -- it may be your last.....I've subscribed to that ever since....
Tomorrow is a maybe -- Tim Russert is a shining example of that!!! RIP...

I'm 58 this year and about 10 min. ago I was hefting 140lb. bales of feed for the horses - so I guess I'm not doing too badly. My hands are getting pretty arthritic as well as my knees, hips and ankles but you just learn to adapt and work through the hand nature deals you.
My brain is always saying, "Twenty-five", but my body says back, "Yeah. Just give it a try big boy".......

Like Harry Callahan said in the movies (Dirty Harry), "A man has to know his limitations....."

Hang in there dieselgal....

Take care
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?
