I just started using the same machine and mask last night and figured out I had the forehead part to tight which was giving me a headache. When I loosened it everything felt fine.

Thanks ! I have made sure that the straps are not too tight, hasn't made a difference.

Need,
When i picked up my equipment, they recommended the Respironics ComfortGel nasal mask. It seemed comfortable enuf. But i'd read so many good things here about the Activa mask, i asked them to make the switch.

So far, so good! But it took awhile to figure out that the headgear needs to be really loose. Moreso than you'd think.

Fair,
Questions... lots of questions.... same here. In fact, i'm considering spending the bucks to buy a card reader & software.

What equipment did they give you? How did your first few nights go? I'm a new user too (2 weeks), and it took a few nights for me to get ANY sleep. The frustration of trying to deal with the mask and hose kept me awake, and I'd end up taking the mask off in the middle of the night.

I've learned now not to let myself do that! My best sleep seems to happen in the last few hours prior to the alarm going off. I'm now forcing myself to keep the mask on even if i lay awake awhile 'cause i know those last few hours make all the difference. I'm now waking much more refreshed and feeling better overall.

It took awhile and i'm still waking up often to deal with the mask & hose, but I now find it much easier to drop back to sleep.

Hang in there, kid! It gets better!

Wow. I've read a lot of threads on this board since getting my CPAP three weeks ago, and this is the best yet. Thanks so much for the positive words. I'm gonna try even harder to keep my mask on tonight.

pets and CPAP

Welcome!

I had to chuckle, thinking of the gal that came in twice in a week because her ferret chewed her CPAP hose twice, and multiple other folks whoose cats thought the cpap tube was a wonderful scratching post. I'm lucky, my dogs could careless about my equipment, as long as they get their bone treats every day.

You might want to keep your hose and mask locked away for safe keeping, pets often like to chew them because they smell like you!
