What I did is to cut narrow strips of the sticky-sides together Velcro. For example, if one starts with a yard of Velcro that has a sticky back--then sticks the entire strip to itself, sticky side to sticky side--one will have a half-yard of two sided hook Velcro. I then cut a strip about 2 inches long, and halved that strip lengthwise. Now, you will have 2-2" long narrow strips.sleepycarol wrote:How do you keep the Velcro from becoming entangled in your hair. I have tried it and it hurts when trying to remove it. I don't have a tender scalp (I grew up with four brothers ).
I then cut one narrow strip in half vertically to make 2 shorter strips. Experiment with the smaller ones, or larger ones...HEY! You spend a whole $1 on the Velcro and should have about 18" of the stuff to play around. It is also cool because you can move it to different places on the Velcro-able headgear. Hopefully, there will be a good spot for you!
So, in short, don't use too much of the Velcro and experiment with the placement of the strips. I'll bet that you could even cut the strips narrower and shorter...just my thought. On my somewhat medium-short hair, the Velcro would stick but would easily pull out. I would sort of comb the hair with the Velcro as I pulled off the headgear. (This fix allowed me to cut my hair shorter because I'd had to make a ponytail previously, as GrannyTooSoon does.)
I hope this works for you.
