Hi Folks

Shortly after reading this post i wanted to see what all this free o/s fuss was about (I had never heard of Ubuntu before this was posted by Roberto) I did a search for Ubuntu and downloaded the ISO which took approx. 3 1/2 hours on DSL. Then i downloaded the Virtual Box in to Winxp and installed Ubuntu (latest version Hardy) in the box. Ran it at first off the ISO disc and had a few problems because i only have 512mb's of Ram i had to go in to msconfig and start Xp with out the startup items, this freed up enough Ram to go ahead and install it on the HD. Restarted Ubuntu and it booted up nicely off the newly installed files. It is a little slow because i can only devote 192 mb's of Ram to it and i need to buy a 1GB Ram card to make it work faster. I then downloaded 129 updates it said were available and installed them and Firefox works o.k. and able to access the Internet etc. The problem is i have been going nuts trying to figure out how to make the various available sound players work (Rythembox, Audacious and others) it also can not see my CD drive when i put in a music CD no sound at all and i have downloaded several sound drivers and researched the Ubuntu forums for hours with no luck. Can't get my printer to work either. Any suggestions help!!! I like Ubuntu i just want to be able to use it.

Dale
