Rooster, yes... I relate to the poorly tweaked settings the night before. Or for me I can wake up at 3:30 am and need to be up at 5:30 am - unable to sleep intially, I get up and fall asleep in the lazy boy recliner without CPAP and get up looking and feeling like a zombie!
Just pulling your leg....Rooster, I do enjoy your point of view on many issues. Life would be boring if we all thought the same way and had the same way of thinking through issues. I really do appreciate your point of view!

Tell me, Fredman. My friends know if they say it is black, I will say it is white and if they say it is white, I will say it is black. Keeps the oxygen-deprived brain cells active. (Keeps my friends count low also )Fredman wrote:.....Life would be boring if we all thought the same way and had the same way of thinking through issues.........
Yeah Rooster, I finally figured that one out. I am a little bit slow due to Oxygen deprivation over the years. Sometimes I need to slow down and smell the roses along the way!!!

I will agree with the poster that mentioned the lower wattage of output in modern phones. I will however, stand by my recommendations of external antennas or small home/office repeaters. I can speak from a few years of experience, especially with the antennas. I have a short magnetic mount antenna on my Ford Ranger. I keep a phone adapter inside and plug in while on the road. I've only had one dropped call and that was way up near Big Bay Michigan in the Iron hills of the upper peninsula. I drive a LOT of rural roads and my farm place in in SE Nebraska, in an area with few cell sites and rolling hills for terrain. I am nowhere without the antennas, but with them, 4-5 bars consistently.
I did look on the Alternative Wireless site for an adapter for the Motorola Q. It says there is not available port, as you have said. Maybe time to look for another phone if you are close on your contract anyway. If you do get a new phone, make sure it has an external adapter port. The ports are very small with a rubber plug installed that must be removed. The port is usually near the build in antenna. When you plug into the port it will disable the installed phone antenna while plugged in and use only the external antenna. I have included the link below about the adapters. You can look for yourself for your own phone or check out new ones and which ones are antenna adapter compatable. Most are. I have had two Motorolas and two LG phones all of which were adaptable and I used with great success with the external antennas. I will say though, the LG phones outperformed either of the Motorola models in my experience. Believe me, these external antennas DO work and work well, so long as you do have at least one or two bars outdoors. If you can elevate the external antenna, all the better. Let me know how it works out for you.
