Due to Sinusitus / Bronchitus, I have been OFF my CPAP for 2 days.
I had GREAT Difficulty sleeping on first night (took FIVE hrs to fall asleep!)
Slept GREAT Second Nite.
My Questions are:
1)How do I know if I NEED to restart CPAP after illness passes.
2)Should I try another sleep study.
Before illness, I was using a Quattro Mask with M series Auto. Setting 8-14 with average "reported" OSHA of 3-5
Second Day OFF CPAP??
Why would you assume you won't need Cpap any longer? You felt better the second night probably because your cold was better, so you could at least breathe, but be sure (if you do have OSA) that by the 4-5th night without Cpap, you'll know the difference. Don't forget you're probably also tired from your cold (whatever), but not as conscious of it by itself as you may be unconsciously attributing tiredness to it, and not OSA.
Never take a night off either, if your profiled equiptment matched, I'd get the software and reader and never have to go to a sleep lab again. I've been sick but never too sick to use my equiptment, air makes me better faster. Jim

I see that you use the comfort gel mask. I like the mask and it feels good but my AHI goes up when compared to the profile lite. I am at a pressure of 12. Your pressure is at 15 and the comfort gel must work for you.
Snoredog on another post said in his opinion the comfort gel mask was a piece of crap. Why do you like yours and why do you think it gives me a higher AHI than the profile lite? Any ideas?

I started with the ComfortFull "M", I got my best numbers with it. I like the ComfortGel "M", because it takes up less realestate on my face, and seals better. I have found a wide difference in the built-in leak rate for the comfortgel mask. Those Chinamen, have a little problem with product control.jrfoster wrote:Jim,Goofproof wrote:Never take a night off either, if your profiled equiptment matched, I'd get the software and reader and never have to go to a sleep lab again. I have been expermenting with changing the vent rate on the mask, (I use hot melt glue to close down the vent). I know this can be harmful and not the correct thing to do.
At 15 CM, I get a vent rate of up to 34 LPM with some units, I have cut this down to 25 LPM, so I am probably getting some leftover CO2. My numbers are under AHI 0.8 most nights. I find for me LPM numbers are critical, over 35 LPM and I have a bad night. I have quite high snore numbers, but it's not really snoring, if I breath in hard I get a snore while awake.
I do mouthbreath at times but not badly enough to tape, my leak rate never goes past 37LPM. All in all that's what's working for me, prefer the mask to be at 30LPM @ 15 cm, but it hard to get the change correct. Jim

Jim,
My avg LPM with the comfort gel is 40! Two weeks ago I use the comfort gel all week to see my numbers, and I got the worst numbers ever since begining CPAP almost 2 years ago. My AHI for the week was 4.6. The best night during the week was only3.5, the worst 6.6. During the 6.6 night the LPM was 44, during the best night it was 36.
The next week I used the profile lite mask and got a weekly AHI of 2.6. The best night was 1.5 with LPM of 35 and the worst night was 4.4 with LPM of 36. So the profile lite gives me lower AHI and better LPM rates. But it is not as comfortable.
Wish I could fix it! Thanks for the reply.
