Differnt humidity settings for different masks?

Post by Brian000 » Mon Jun 06, 2005 2:45 pm

I've been using a profile lite mask for the past three years. I just got an Activa and I LOVE it: soooo comfortable, loose straps, and no matter how I press my head into my pillow NO LEAKS!! Why didn't I try this years ago? I've had a tender and sore spot on the bridge of my nose for years -- after only a few nights on the Activa it's finally healing up

I have noticed, however, that I'm experiencing much more dryness and irritation in my nasal passages and airway: it doesn't feel like the humidy is high enough. I used to typically leave my Remstar humidifier set on 2 when wearing the Profile Lite; this setting is pretty uncomfortable with the Activa. I've bumped the humidity to 4, but it's still not perfect.

Why would this be? Has anybody else experienced a need to adjust humidy settings with different masks?

On the bright side, I'm not having any rainout.

2 reasons come to mind.

1. A change in relative humidity. Remember its all relative .

2. Perhaps the activa mask has a higher washout or flo rate.

Water isn't "wet" enough.

Cheers,
