My CPAP Machine did something odd.....

I was on a motorcycle trip over in Alabama staying in a Chalet and the second night I was there, my machine just shut off in the middle of the night....the display was off and I even tried pluging the machine up in several other outlets all throughtout the chalet....without it coming back on....needless to say, I didn't sleep very well the rest of that night...

I got back home on Sunday and plugged my machine in, and it's been working right every since....I thought that maybe there was a power surge or the power went out causing the machine to cut off??.......

I've only been on CPAP for about one month, and the machine was new when I got it....I just hope it doesn't cut off again and leave me hanging...

I can look at my #'s each morning and the last three days have shown the AI as being at ".1"....with the AHI's being 4.0, 6.4 and 3.2.....with leak rates ranging from .32-.52.......the HI's were 3.9, 6.3, 3.1

I do notice that I have a little more energy during the day and don't wake up with headaches anymore, so I know it's working....I just wouldn't say that it's a miracle turn around....about the 3rd day after using the CPAP, I was able to go ALL day without a single yawn.....but since then, I sometimes still feel a little tired or sleepy at the end of the day...my job is a very physical one so that may be part of it.....

I can't help you with the power issue for that one night.

But...you leaks are too high. With your machine they should be under .40 and if it were me, I would want them even a bit lower(under .30). When the leaks get too high it can skew the data and you may be having events that are not recorded. It also means you are not getting proper treatment, all the pressure is escaping from the leak.

Gotta get those leaks under control.

It is possible that at the Chalet you blew an electrical braker. Any outlets on that braker wouldn't work, which might explain why on matter which plug you tried it didn't work.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that the unit "overheated" I've had a couple appliances do this, not my CPAP. After they've "cooled down" you plug them in and they work. I suppose that if something is wrong with the CPAP, it could do this. Make sure there is plenty of room around the CPAP for proper air flow.

Of course any appliance I've had this happen with has taken a C**** latter. If your CPAP acts up again, I'd call the DME and ask them to check it.
