Thousands of people with obstructive sleep apnea and depression wake up tired.
A local Clinical Research Study is underway to see if an investigational drug is effective at reducing daytime sleepiness for people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Depression.

Re: Chicago - Research for Sleep Apnea and Depression
Drugs would only mask the more important probelms of OSA even if they were effective at reducing daytime sleepiness. There are more serious health related issues of OSA than just daytime sleepiness such as hypertension and cardiovascular stresses, diabetes and obesity.Chicago_Research wrote:Thousands of people with obstructive sleep apnea and depression wake up tired.

Why not focus on conducting clinical research studies to develop drugs for politicians to tell the truth or something useful like that
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

And I completely agree.
How many folks have written to this (and similar) boards feeling horrible, and weary from years of various drug regimens? Folks with depression, bi-polar disorder, even mood issues, (and other nervous disorders) when they really needed to resolve their sleep disorder issues before superficially treating (potentially) secondary symptoms?
And, how many folks found that their mood and depressive issues were resistant to drug intervention?
How many folks have written right here that there mood or depression symptoms were resolved with PAP therapy?
Lots.
My mood and outlook have certainly improved with CPAP then APAP (although I really didn't know I could feel better, and was never prescribed anything).
I think that, eventually, medical science will consider OSA as a potential root cause of a long list of symptoms (psychological, neurological, cardiological, behavioral, and others); and something that should be generally be ruled-out before proceeding with drug intervention. (With exceptions, of course. Eg hypertension, destructive behavior, etc.)
