What glue is safe for a temporary repair on mask hose part?
What glue is safe for a temporary repair on mask hose part?
Well after beign up with a sick toddler last about the 20the time I had to unplug my mask hose from the main hose the piece came apart, its not threaded doesnt snap it mustve been factory glued the way it looks because it is at a seam. Hubby wondered if maybe I could super glur it until the DME is open tomorrow but I wasnt sure if that was safe with the humidification going through there and into my over-precautious pregnant lungs. Is there a glue that anyone recommends, or has used, do you know if its safe? Thanks for any help.

I'm looking at my NAII to see where it might have broken. Did the ring that holds the swivel/hose connection come loose or did the casting that divides the air to the two smaller tubes split?
If it's the ring holding the swivel in place, I'd consider super glue, as the air pressure would be leaking out at that point and flush vapors away from the mask. If it's the larger casting that has split along the mold mark that parallels the airflow, what about using a hose clamp to hold it together for one night.
I used super glue on my FP Infinity, but it was a situation with a really good mechanical fit and a large area for the glue to stick to (a joint between a solid casting and a flexible hose). After letting it set for a few minutes, I flushed the whole thing thoroughly with water, which acts as a catalyst to the super glue. I may have let it air out a couple of days, I don't recall, but I couldn't smell the glue at all.
Still, the pregnancy issue complicates the decision.

Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.
Beware of chemophobia. Damage from one night of untreated sleep apnea is probably hundreds of times greater that damage from breathing a little glue fumes.
People who are damaged by glue fumes are using glue as a recreational drug for months or years and people who have worked in glue factories for decades. Even the factory workers who use proper precautions have no health damage.
There is no evidence that a little bit here and there ever hurt anyone.

If it were me, I would try to Duct tape it. No, I am not trying to be funny folks, I am serious. Something similar happened to me and I tried duct tape, and it worked temporarily. There may possibly be a small leak of air, but as I said, it may work as a temporary measure. And before anyone looks, Yes, I am from the South.... I can fix anything, where is my duct tape?

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

I would try tape rather than super glue. Remember, you will breathing it all night.
From Wikipedia:
According to the bottle label, Superglue may cause allergic skin reaction. If glue is stuck to eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes and call a doctor. If contact with skin, flush with water. If eaten/drunk, call a doctor and do not induce vomiting. Keep product away from children. Superglue is an eye and respiratory irritant.
Emphasis added is mine.
