Yawning before bed

Post by RonS » Sun Apr 27, 2008 1:20 pm

OK, now that I've got your attention, prepare to start yawning.

Right before I go to bed, I frequently get a bout of yawning. A few giant yawns. Big giant mouth gaping yawns with large exhales. Very relaxing, I suppose. Not a bad thing when you're a normal sleeper.

Unfortuantely when I yawn like that (just like you are yawning right now ) my eyes tear up which leads to -- nasal congestion, which leads to Afrin, which I don't wanna be using every night.

Anyone else have this issue?

(Anyone NOT yawning right now?)

***stop using the afrin*** Seriously, that stuff causes rebound congestion and you'll never got off of it. If you have to go with an OTC nasal spray (for allergies), use NasoCrom. It doesn't work immediately, but will work eventually with continued use (again, if allergies are your problem) and it doesn't cause rebound congestion.

If you really think your eyes tearing is causing nasal congestion, try blotting your eyes with a tissue after (or during) the yawn so that all the tears don't drain into your nose.
