What is this all in one week? Thought that was just today's weather.

Don't forget the wind too.
LOL!!! You're right, I forgot the wind and it was all on one day! Today we even had thunder and lightning, sun, downpour, and the usual gloom and doom. Sheesh.

I don't think we had lightning and thunder today but hail, sleet, snow, rain, wind - yep --- we have been out on the coast 4 years (moving from the midwest but we both grew up west of the Cascades in WA) - seems like this year we have had much more hail that the previous ones.

Interesting to read other peoples stories. Its taken me well over 12 mths to say I feel much better. Apparently i don't take rejection well and had difficulty rejecting my life as I knew it which made crossing that line into cpap world very difficult and that also explains why for a very long time my mask was on the floor. I didn't want to be a part of this which was understandable at the time. I also needed exhale relief so struggled with the machine as well. Anyway I kept at it not knowing if it would ever work and finally its all coming together

At least the hail doesn't dent cars like it does in the Rockies : )

It't actually dry and calm out there right now. I have to wonder what's next : ) Is summer every coming?

Gasp , yes I got the new resmed with easy breath currently not released in USA. I had to give up my share in a brand new Yacht which I loved because was to tired to sail it. Only last month I was invited on a dream cruise around Great Barrier Reef in Oz and my previous machine died while testing it on a battery. I was back off the boat and on a plane back again within 24 hrs. That hurt but oh well them's the breaks At least we have the option of treatment, what about OSA 50 years ago? scary thought

It did but died when we plugged it in using converter. Got it repaired and it was full of gunk as well, coffee, beer, beer, beer anyway it was a blessing as they gave me the just released s8II as a loaner. One breath and I was hooked. Went back next day and bought it and the Vantage is now my second machine

I didn't realise you had used both the S8 Vantage and the S8II Zorro. Cool.

Right I know that but I hadn't had anyone confirm the difference between the S8 and the S8II before.

It really does sound like the "easy breathe technology" is the Resmed equivalent of a-flex. Certainly the respironics disciples on this forum would have you believe that the respironics a-flex has no Resmed equivalent.

I have always wondered why people were so up in arms about EPR not working in APAP mode with Resmed and only just worked out recently that it was merely the fact that none of em have ever tried the S8II as of course it's not available in the USA.

Bingo. It will create chaos when it hits the USA. The difference with EPR is It doesn't feel natural. With the vantage I tried EPR and I still had exhale pressure in the 1st 10% on exhale. the machine would then give good exhale relief but then it would force you to breath on inhale if you were ready or not. Easy Breath has 0 resistance right across the range so you never feel a hint of resistance. I still wake up constantly thinking, oh no a power failure

difference with cpap

Post by helpful wife » Thu May 15, 2008 10:05 am

What is an apap? My husband has been using a c-pap about a year. He feels really tired all the time still. He is not overweight, but he did have some snoring. His biggest complaint for years is falling asleep at work. The sleep study showed he needed a cpap so he faithfully wears it. But- something must be wrong. We think he may need another sleep study, but he has already done 2. Any other ideas?

A APAP is a machine like a CPAP. It has the ability to be set for a range of pressure not just one pressure like CPAP, based on your breathing pattern it choses the pressure needed to hold your airway open using the lowest pressure needed to get the job done. Most APAPs collect data whitch with software can show you how your treatment is doing allowing you to get the best treatment for you. (Don't need the Sleep Lab)

Odds are your husband was given a nasal mask and is leaking his treatment pressure out of his mouth. That is the #1 cause of treatment failure with the exception of the I can't do this sendrome, and a swim in De-Nile. Jim

Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!
