Swift II - Vents noisy?

OK, so let me rephase that. It makes no noise that I can hear over the ambient sounds in the room, such as the CPAP machine itself, the central air vents, three dogs and my wife breathing, cars on the street, barred owls hooting outside, etc.
Is that better?
The S8 Elite machine is by far the loudest of those, and I wouldn't define it as "loud". Any sounds made by the mask itself are insignificant by comparison.
But you're right, of course. Even a brick can't be said to make NO noise, since any device you can use to detect its sound would have its own inherent margin of error.

I couldn't stand the noise of that mask when I tried it on one night - I stuck with the Activa ever since.

This is my current mask of choice. I have found that the fit tolerances are a little sloppy. I need to pay pretty close attention when reassembling after cleaning. If I haphazardly just "plug things back together" I get leaks. I have to make sure the blue "keeper" rings are on just right before pushing in the tube and plug. Even then I think there are minor leaks, but not enough to worry about. I have to fight with it a little through the night...readjusting from tossing and turning, but it is still the most comfortable for me, and the easiest to readjust.

Well any noise this mask makes is from the vents. Last night I teflon taped the end cap and hose on to make sure they were snug...well they were so snug I could barely turn the hose.
No difference in noise.
And it is not leak whistle, when you move the pads around, you can hear that get generated.
Oh well.
What's the quietest nasal pillow out there?

Agreed. I'm at 6.5 now. I experimented up to 10 and it's like sleeping with a vacuum cleaner. I also couldn't keep it sealed. Leaked like a sieve.billbolton wrote:I suspect that the users reporting low noise levels are running low flow rates. I am using 14 cm H20 and my experience with the Swift II is like yours, the vents are the source of the majority of the mask noise!Needsdecaf wrote:Well any noise this mask makes is from the vents.
Cheers,
