Thanks for all the input everyone. I should have filled in some blanks that might have explained the situation a little more. This is my wife's first sleep study and we are expecting an OSA diagnosis. I was diagnosed 17 years ago so I am all too familiar with the OSA symptoms. I have a REMstar APAP with the Encore Pro S/W along with a SPO 7500 Wrist Ox so we have been doing our own studies at home to get her used to CPAP therapy and to find a mask she is comfortable with. The lab study is necessary only for insurance so we can get coverage for DME and perhaps future jaw surgery or a dental appliance.
Back when I was initially diagnosed they didn't do split-night studies. I had my first (and I hope last) split-night study when it was time to replace my 14 year old CPAP and I needed a prescription (I still have the machine if anyone is starting a CPAP museum ). That was when the tech told me about not using my CPAP the night before. My AHI was still plenty high for a OSA diagnosis. The second half of the night (titration) was a disaster but I still got my prescription and used it to buy my APAP.
My wife decided to lay off the CPAP for two nights before the study. She was doing very good with the CPAP and I really didn't want her to stop using it but she didn't want to do anything that would affect the results.
Thanks again everyone.

My goodness... you go a LONG way back with cpap treatment, Dave! Lucky for you!!! And lucky for your wife, that you have the experience and a good monitoring machine and the software AND the pulse oxi. Lucky for her that you're able to help her get ready for the study. She's an "old hand" at it too now, having been wearing a mask and using cpap at home.
Way to go, both of you!!
Hope all goes smoothly for her at the study and that she soon has her Rx in hand and a machine of her very own.
