Three reasons for me to use the machine below the level of the mattress top:

-Significant noise reduction.
-Lowered likelihood of rolling over while asleep and pulling the machine off a nightstand onto the floor.
-I have the blue lights and this gets them out of the line of view.
-(Rainout is under control with a hose cover so no advantage to drain back into tank).

My wife has a white bamboo bed tray that she bought at an antique store to sit on our bed for decoration (How do women think of such things?). It is about one foot tall.

I finally figured out that it is great to sit on the floor at night to use as a stand for my cpap machine. I don't like the machine directly on our hardwood floor because it is more likely to suck dust bunnies into the air filter.

There are hundreds of styles of bed trays listed on the internet. Just google "bed tray". Here is just one example: http://www.bellacor.com/detail.cfm?Cat= ... g-DataFeed.

where to put cpap

Post by lifeartist59 » Fri Apr 04, 2008 9:01 pm

I use mine at home on a plastic tray (cafeteria type bought at a GFS) on the floor. I was a little concerned about placing the humidifier on the carpet. I am going to go on vacation, and wonder if anyone has ideas or suggestion for placement in hotels? I read one post that said they put the cpap on a nightstand when traveling. I only wonder if the nightstand is nice wood, would I run the risk of damaging it? Thanks in advance for ideas/suggestions.

I traveled for the first time with my CPAP since getting it 3 months ago. Stayed at a motel and having doubts about the cleanliness of the floor, I put it on the nightstand. Worked fine, and my wife didn't complain about the noise, so I assume it wasn't much different from home where I keep it on the floor.
