I am rather new user so this is one of my 1st posts. Bought my cpap thru a private party for cash. and was thinking about buying a new one that insurance will pay for. The new Respironic pricing sure made my decison alot easier because:
1. My insurance doesnt require pre-authorization if the charge is under$500.
Wanted to get another machine for back up/and to see if did not make those creepy breathing noises like my used one does. Doesnt pre-auth usually require bs like new sleep study and rental hoops?
2. Wanted to try apap. Saw the two other brands at only $475 which is less than M-pro cpap.
Thanks Den for the brief update.
APRIL FOOLS DAY - No price increase

To those who DID NOT write to Mr. Pflueger.........DON'T complain about the price increases!
I didn't even have a dog in this fight because I'd bought all of my equipment some time ago.......but I was trying to help those yet-to-be-diagnosed, new users and those who will want to get additional equipment. BECAUSE, I believe the MAP policies are dead wrong.

I'd suggest the Puritan Bennett Goodknight 420E autopap. And its Silverlining software.jrt wrote:Wanted to try apap. Saw the two other brands at only $475

Buy the 420E. And the software.
And when you set it up, remember the 420E has 3 pressure definitions in Auto mode:
The initial pressure - where it starts and that should be like your recommended.
The bottom pressure - where it can drop safely without bothering you
And top pressure where in goes if necessary.
And it also has "don't touch this if you don't know what you're doing" definition of "maximum pressure for command on apnea.
By setting the initial pressure at your recommended pressure, you're telling the machine: OK, this is where you can stray from. You can drop slowly to the bottom, but return quicky back to the recommended - if a raise is necessary. Only if staying at the recommended doesn't help. do you go higher. And drop back to the recommended as soon as it's safe.
Very nifty. I'm presently at one above one below my recommended.
And youi can export your data - on a day basis, or on a session basis, the machine saves detailed data for 96 sleep hours, and non-detailed for 200 sleep hours.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
