Anybody else discover Cayenne Pepper?
THIS WAS LAST FALL.......
Did any of you see the talk show where Dr. Phils' wife came on stage carrying a tray with a glass of water, olive oil, fresh lemon , cayenne pepper. I believe that was all.
She told the host that she religiously drank this every night. Warm water, 2 tbs olive oil, squeeze 1 tab lemon and "did not give proportions of cayenne pepper". That it detoxified the liver.
Please correct me if I have any of this wrong..just the way I remember it.
(Do any of you have trouble with the spell check. I had to pull the dictionary on "Proportions" as the spell check said it was O'K with propropation". I have caught other errors before...How do you fix it???

We can all be angels to one another. ..., the little whisper that says,Go. Ask. Reach out. The world will be a better place for it. And wherever they are, the angels will dance."

A quick web search reveals that Dr Phil's wife is Robin McGraw and it was the Rachel Ray show she appeared on. Her website lists the detox ingredients as follows:needingu wrote:She told the host that she religiously drank this every night. DETOX DRINK:
2 TABLESPOONS OF OLIVE OIL
A DASH OF CAYENNE PEPPER
JUICE OF HALF A LEMON
ADD TO A CUP OF WARM WATER BEFORE BED

I've had pretty bad GERD in the past, and I did read on one forum about this guy who took a concoction of cayenne pepper and some other things, and his GERD went away. Its hard to believe, considering how sensitive people with GERD can be to spicy foods, but he swore to it. Fortunately, mine went away without trying the pepper.......but maybe it would be good for my IBS??

I discovered cayenne pepper as a stomach remedy over 30 years ago (in my more holistic days).....It "cured" a stomach ulcer in about 3-4 weeks.
Doctor couldn't believe it (he was one of those stuffed shirt typical medical doctors of the time that had all the answers and holistic remedies were just hooey.....Showed him!!!).....
I took 2 capsules twice a day (morning and evening).
It's also supposed to help with circulation as well as having other benefits.....
I love hot foods and put Tapatio or Chulula on just about anything edible.....Tabasco in macaroni salad...yummy.....
Been on Prilosec for years!!
Liam - you're probably not getting enough!!!!
cheers

Wars arise from a failure to understand one another's humanness. Instead of summit meetings, why not have families meet for a picnic and get to know each other while the children play together?

Any idea about the most effective timing? Before/after/between meals?NightHawkeye wrote:I've been taking a teaspoonful in a glass of water twice a day.

Rooster, I generally take it before meals. If I take it after meals then I have to follow it with more food to cool down my mouth. No distress in the stomach though.rooster wrote:Any idea about the most effective timing? Before/after/between meals?
I also find it improves appetite. My wife no longer tells me I need to put on weight. Maybe it's working too well.

Taking it in capsules I didn't notice any spicy effects at all....maybe a warm "glow" for about 5 minutes, but....it was a lot of brain cells ago.....
Perhaps with my GERD I should try it again!!!! Couldn't hurt, and it's a whole lot cheaper than Prilosec!!!!
cheers

Man, just THINKING about taking Cayenne pepper makes my stomach hurt. However, there is apparently sound scientific evidence for what the O.P. claims. Here are the citations:

I have always had a warm spot for spicey food. I had some fired-up organic blue corn nachos the other day ... not that bad going in but I notice they always come out much hotter the next morning
I must admit, that I don't think I have ever experienced GERD ... so maybe the capsaicin works?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Maybe that's what they mean by burns twice. .DreamStalker wrote:I have always had a warm spot for spicey food. I had some fired-up organic blue corn nachos the other day ... not that bad going in but I notice they always come out much hotter the next morning
Personally, I haven't experienced that at all. My digestive system was overly sensitive for years, until I started taking the Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne is hot on the intake, but after that it's just cool. .

Speaking of "burning twice", have you ever taken peppermint capsules? YOUSER!
I wonder if they've done any research on if people who eat cayenne pepper in their foods on a regular basis (would that be Mexican cuisine??), if perhaps they're GERD rates are low??
Ginger root capsules burn like the dickens too.
I'm going to look for Cayenne capsules the next time I'm out.

What guy would disagree with that?goose wrote:Liam - you're probably not getting enough!!!!
Liam, not sure how that relates to cayenne pepper.

Liam -- had that same thought as I submitted it, but I wasn't going to change it......
Hey Roberto, you might try a Popsicle suppository with the "fired up nachos"....or as Cheech Marin said in one of those movies....."Come on Ice Cream".......
My wife thinks I'm crazy (well for other reasons too, but....), but I put a lot of cayenne pepper and paprika on cottage cheese (among other things)......
cheers
