I've had no trouble with my SPO 7500 either with the oximeter's operation or the software. I suspect that the battery that came with it may have been a bit run down. The first few times I used it I sometimes had to try the upload twice before it would work. Since I changed the battery, it's worked without a hitch.

I wouldn't call the SPO 7500 "poor" quality ... and see no reason to spend more money. I find the software very simple and straightforward (though I have to admit I've been a computer programmer for over 40 years). And the oximeter is so easy to use. Just my opinion.
